I use three browsers -- Chrome, IE and Firefox -- on two home computers and two work computers. I'd love to find a utility that keeps ALL my favorites synced between all the browsers and computers. Free. Without hogging RAM. Any ideas?

Simple enough:

Start with your Firefox browser. It will export all the links to an HTML file that you can open, and it's just links.

Post that as a web page. Your ISP probably provides some web space for you. If not, there are plenty of 'free' web site providers.

Dump your links into a web page, and make that your home page.

I've been looking at different bookmark tools like these, but it doesn't say how they handle all the bookmarks already on more than one system.
I use mostly Firefox, on two systems (work & home), and they have maybe hundreds of bookmarks each (mostly in folders & subfolders in the bookmarks toolbar).
If I try to sync them together, I imagine I'll have one bit of a job reorganizing them - getting rid of duplicates, etc.

I've thought of doing this. (Actually, you can also just copy the bookmark.html file from your Firefox profile and post that.)

The problem I see with this is that it's not 'live'. The web page is not updated as you add or delete bookmarks in the browser.

The web filtering service from ScrubIT by using their DNS is amazingly great approach. It could not be simpler done and yet it is very effective.

I am very satisfied with the Foxmarks Firefox extension for synching my bookmarks between a few machines and between both Linux and WinXP. When I began using this extension I had an awful lot of pre-existing bookmarks that I didn't care to lose, but was dreading to copy between machines. Foxmarks handled it with no loss and without me having to think further about it.

As to the deleting of duplicate bookmarks, this is , in my opinion, the one shortcoming of Foxmarks. I have heard of apps that remove dupes and also dead links, but I've not personally used any.

I use Google Bookmarks. It's on the Internet, so when I log in to Google, it's accessible from the google tool bar in IE and Mozilla; it also offers to import your IE or Mozilla bookmarks. I don't know about Chrome or Opera, but if the Google tool bar is installed, it should work. I find it very convenient when traveling and my computer is not available - Internet access and log in to Google is all that's required.
