Quit Complaining!!!
Apple wants 100% control of everything in the iPhone, if they could, they would have their own cell service. To prevent games from being free and accessable without the store being in the way. Apple says NO!
You should have bought something else!

I think what ppl are missing is teh fact just like any other software, there will be companies that will use it properly and those who won't. It isn't MS fault email ow has spam. Adobe doesn't hit you with Flash ads in your browser, the site you vist chose to use it. I like flash and so do any others. Since Steve 'I' Jobs says S has no tastes and that he promotes choice he just eliminate my choice as to where I want to install an application or not. If I want it it should be avail, If I don't i simply don't download it. I find it so funny when ppl say soething is bad just bec they dont like it. Even if Steve doesn't liek Flash, it doesn't mean you shouldnt make it available to those who do what it. And like it was commented on youtude videos, what you see on any phone on youtude is a converted video not actually flash. And flash has teh ability to offer lots of content benefits. And you can get a lot in a small file, like you do with java games and appz. The only resource flash needs is when it is downloading, and seeing how you can see 100MB of content in a package that is 1/100th the size i'd say is a benefit. The airplane was teh next best invention in history nest to teh wheel. But after teh government got there hands on it they turned it into a killer. So since it has bad aspects does that mean I shouldn't fly at all? The potential for a misuse of software is always evident on any platform and not every one can program Flash. Flash is good and bad and to say it is bad in such a way you think every1 is going to agree is dumb. You should explain why it is bad for you.

The biggest complaint I saw was ads and banners and popups. First off flash doesn't tied up your systems resources, it how the browser manipuates them that does. And how a developer uses flash can make it good or bad. Maybeif you didn't visit sites that have cracked software, or por nyou wouldn't see those ads or banners. And all of those banners and ads are always in flash, as this is not the only way to animate pictures. If you have an actual flash player and you download a flash file and use it, it uses way less resources than using it in a browser. The other issue with flash depends on how fast your connection is, so for you cheap AOL and Netzero dialup users 56k and flash don't mix well.
And Youtube as an example is also bad. First off what you look at on Youtube is FLV files being streamed to you. Since there site is so bogged with some any servers streaming video, it makes teh experience bad for everyone. That isn't a flash problem, that is a youtube problem. Any site that streaing video and audio can have this same problem. Even NetFlix has issues and I use Comcast and I get very good speed. If you going to blame someone, bit teh blae where it belongs.
I don't like regular tv, that why I have cable. I don't like trucks so I own a car and it isn't GM based, but it doesn't mean GM is all bad.
And I don't even see why the Iphone gets so much hype. Everything Iphone does, several phone has done it on some level. Touch isn't new as Palm already had that and so did some MS varieties. Neither is playing music on a phone new either. In fact none of teh features of Iphone are new, it was just done in a differet way. It certainly isn't teh best phone on the market. It is however one of the coolest looking ones. It doesnt do anything other phones aren't already doing, its just a different way of doing it. PPl act liek Iphone is God's gift to mankind. They hold it like it makes them immortal to even have one.
Oh and Steve, since you like to bash MS saying they don't have taste? well you have no taste by not allowing us to choose what we want on you expensive ass phone. And another thing...its a frikkin phone. It isn't a PC. If you want all the benefits of a PC several OE offer pcoket sized PC's that cost less than an Iphone. and if you have a wireless bluetooth you can even use it as a phone. I never thought any phone would ever get more attention than the Razr...i get so sick of fads. I think both Steve J and Bill G go home at night and get on the phone and caht about how stupid we consumers are to play their got to have the newest toy game. I think more people are taken by teh fact that the Iphone does anything but make calls. In fact most of the people I see using one aren't even making calls at all. Why not save yourself a couple of $100 and get the Touch.
In fact I am so willing to bet money right now. I am willing to bet if Apple did a poll on the top 5 things you use the iphone for...number one would be to play music, two to play games...and 5 would be to make calls if it even makes the top 5 at all. I saw a woen crash into a bus and she had teh iphone mounted to her dash, it looks like se was trying to read that itty bitty crappy Google map screen. When she could have bought a real GPS or a phone like Instinct that offers audio turn by turn navigation. Another hidden expense of cost of ownership of Apple products. Hey Apple I think Different. I think teh reason Windows beat you is for teh same reason everyone else does. We want a product where we get to do what we want when we want too, not having stupid rules that benefit no one. And since you need our money to even stay in business you should be listening to the majority. That why Bill beat you, because you're selfish and controlling which is why you're single, which is why Woz left Apple, its the reason Mac is only at 5% or the computer market and teh same reason you almost went out of business.
Hey steve did you know that if the Iphone had a camera that can record live video, that it would be cool to uplaod teh video to a cool site liek Youtube, or MySpace so teh rest of teh world can see it? and wouldn't it be cool if it was in Flash and we wouldn't be limited to a 5 minutes video because in a 5MB file written in flash you could get over 100MB of data into the same space? And and didnt it dawn on you that if a laptop cost $2700 it should have a built-in CD? And lastly, since the Xeon is a high ended serve cpu, what benfit is it for it on a mac for s user who only needs to use Itunes and send email and maybe type a Word doc.
The "I' in Apple products means 'I' Steve not "I" the user. In fact Apple latest products all have this designation starting with iMac. 'I' in itself is a selfish character and shows bad business to use it in advertsing

VIDEO... That is another problem that leaving Flash out 'solves' for Apple.
If you can just browse to sites with Flash video on them, why would you ever pay AT&T and Apple to watch exactly the same content?
Most TV programs have their own web sites now that you can watch the latest episode for free on. Legal for free, not 'warez' for free. Something else iPhone users miss out on with their so-called 'internet experience'.
If you are REALLY bothered by Flash advertising crap, then install the 'FlashBlock' plugin into Firefox. When you WANT the Flash content, play the Flash content. The first thing you'll discover is that a LOT of the annoying animated advertising content isn't Flash. The second thing you'll do is install 'Adblock Plus', and its database updater, and the amount of annoyance goes down to effectively zero. Nothing flashes or shouts at me, EVER. So maybe the difference between the clueless Flash haters and the rest of us is they use Internet Exploder, or didn't (until now) know anything about Firefox plugins.
FlashBlock is also GREAT for browsing video. You can open every video on a list in tabs in the background and they won't all start playing until you bring them each up and click on the play button. Also handy if you have a bunch of video sites in a folder that you use 'Open All in Tabs' to start into.

Don't even like Flash on the web, it's the 21st century animated GIF ... it's pointless - do not want - even if it's available - would never install - 99% of it would be to serve flash ads - have no idea why people think it's important ... like crying for an Fm tuner, old technology - we have pandora there - just like flash, old outdated techmolgy - do not want.

To tell you honestly, I don't care about Flash on the iPhone.
But when will be Flash be available on BlackBerry Bold and Storm ?
Last time I looked BlackBerry was still the tool of choice ... over iP...
Question: Research In Motion and Adobe ... how about a competitive advantage?

First off smarty, Flash is not 21st Century animated GIF's. Last time I checked, you can't makes games and applications with gifs. In fact most of what flash can do is well beyond GIF's. And there is ore to Flash than idiots using the for ads. I have 5 games done in flash like Pac-Man and a few others. If I had a Flash Player on m phone I can copy them to my phone and play them natively. All I waould need to do is resize the animation for my screen size. And those 5 games together take up the space of 1 single game using Java.
The biggest compalint is the misuse of Flash. It is both good and bad, but can be use in resourceful ways. For example, instead of using MP3, I could convert teh files to swf and store more songs on my drive that is in my phone, which is not an Iphone, but I do plan to get the ITouch.
And as mentioned not all banner ads are done in flash, many are done using java and gifs. And no atter what browser you use there is a software that can block those. Popup can be blocked with just using your browsers native popup blocker.
And lastly, why did Adobe even eed to ask Apple about making Flash available for their phone. There are 100's of PDA based phones. Seems they could have simply created a downlaod for it on their web site for the most used phones and just let us download it.
I bet if Apple erected a statue of the Iphone on their property, that millions of owners would try to go see it just to take a picture of it with the phone itself. Which would prove just how cynical the Iphone and its owners are. It is a cool product that was marketd very well, but ppl act like it is God Gift to Mankind.

smonroe01 is right. It's free market economics. And, at least part of our market is still free.
When I get a new phone the Android phones will be the ones I first look at. People are funny, they have to have some of these Apple products, but Apple has always tried to control it's market. Consumer freedom is not their goal. So, buy the iPhone if you have to, but realize that you are now under the thumb of Apple. They will decide what is best for you.... after they decide what's best for them.
The Android phones are not as slick as the iPhone, but, in the future, there will be more apps, AND MORE PHONES! Freedom is open source.

All of you who thik flash is a joke get real. You can't do anything without flash. While I'm not going I lie and say the 98% of the website today don't use flash the 2% that do make a differnce. Try to buy tickets to the lastest Jack Johnson concert online? You CAN'T. Or pay your bills so that this economey looks good! Think about wait apple has done. You want to pay for everything because apple thinks that you may go away from them. Apple may not read this but they don't get input form their coustomers. "You told us they say" "We heard you!" This means "We thought it was great" "Your imput didn't have a feature your like in this upgrade."

Adobe has tried to embarrass Apple into launching Flash on the iPhone but this is not a good strategy:
"Adobe confirmed yesterday at the Flash On The Beach (FOTB) conference in Brighton, UK that it is actually developing a Flash Player for the iPhone."
http://iphonegames.t...our-breath.html
As a business strategy, it's a non-starter. Apple is now pushed into a situation where approving Flash would make them lose face. Surely Shantanu Narayen (Adobe CEO) has done business in Asia and understands that this probabily won't work.
If Adobe wanted Flash on the iPhone Shantanu would pick up the phone and work out a deal with Jobs.
Look at it this way, a stand alone Flash-Player as a iPhone app doesn't even address the main use of Flash, as a plug-in in the web browser. If Apple wanted Flash on the iPhone, that's how it would show up.
I personally like Flash (I have even coded Flash Based Games for fun and profit in my past) and clearly "Flash Lite", a reduced size version for mobile devices, would run pretty nicely on the iPhone.
Flash Lite has been a big success in Japan, with one portal, Mobile Game Town, seeing over 1 million Flash Lite games played daily.
So why not Flash or even "Flash Lite?"
Well, here's one obvious reason:
Apple wants native iPhone apps. Native apps take advantage of the iPhone's unique hardware and provide performance on a par with Sony PSP and Nintendo DS devices. Apple shifted its focus from web apps to native apps for a similar reason. Native apps also give the iPhone a performance edge over Java apps on the Google Android system.
Users now prefer iPhone native apps over iPhone web apps. You now see Facebook, Linked-In, Twitter, and other web destinations offering native iPhone apps with a better user experience than the websites (even specially crafted for the iPhone) they replaced.
