#8 is a major turn off for me- itunes is terrible, it's incredibly slow, it's always attempting to mess up my music, my ipod touch, it's incredibly possessive, it wastes significant amounts of computer processing power, and it's a huge annoyance. To force me to use this junk is incredibly arrogant and insanely annoying.
I don't like the app store, it's really hard to find decent apps on there anymore then the top 50, you have to go to online reviews, find potential apps that you might like, and then search for them on the store. The 1500 apps that the store has is simply unwieldy right now.
I'm sorry, but I really don't see how built in memory is a plus. Apple is forcing you to one single permanent amount of memory, how in the world is that a benefit? Saying that it's easier for the user is nonsense, all they have to do is follow the pretty pictures in the manual and they can put it in the slot just as easily in the storm.
As for the browser, I'm extremely frustrated with safari. There's no way to use another, better, browser in the iphone (and people complained about microsoft and ie?), the browser is often slow, it crashes, it has issues rendering pages at times, there's no add blocking, apple seems to have little interest in improving the browser.
On the other hand I definitely agree with the arguments about the wi-fi, the keyboard, and media player. :)

At best Al comes across as a Fanboy rather than an unbiased reviewer. Very Walt Mossberg but a lot less elegant.

I just looked at our Rogers site here in Ontario in regards to the new Blackberry BOLD and your "8 reasons to buy the iPhone over the Blackberry Bold article". It has numerous errors and holes in it's logic.
The real problem is with Verizon, not the Bold itself.
Since readers of your publication also are here in Canada, you may want to scale back your critisim of a truely great product. My Wi-Fi works great and my keyboard gives me no problems at all!
I also use it for business,so music is the least of my concerns. If I wanted music...I'd get an Ipod.

8) iPhone Now Second Generation
1st RIM PDA Blackberry introduced in 1999, so right off the start Blackberry has 7.5 years on iPhone. No 1st, 2nd, 3rd generations in RIM devices. No need to fix bugs or improve anything. They all work off the start. Apple, maker of many different products as we all know. RIM maker of PDA phones. Who's the expert?
7) Built-In Memory
How is this even a benefit? Another part that may break down and your whole phone needs to be taken a part. Memory card? swap it, change it, use it in other devices. Seriously... where is the internal HD benefit?
6) iTunes App Store
Why would this be a benefit since Apple has the only rights to sell music on iPhone. How often would you use the Store? In my eyes there is no benefit over BB.
5) iTunes Integration
BB media player works great and for all you iTunes lovers RIM does have Media Sync integration for iTunes. Benefit? Don't see one.

4) Full QWERTY (Virtual) Keyboard
Blackberry has one too. That works in both views horizontal and vertical. It also uses brand new setup where you type by pushing the button instead of typing on release. Read on it it's amazing.
3) Wi-Fi Support
Yep. Here is the first benefit on iPhone side.
2) iPod Media Player
This is the 3rd out of 8 benefits related to Music. Not one word on the true usage of a PDA. push to email, personal, corporate, communication, size, usability? At the end we are talking about music. Does it play? Yes? than it's all good. BTW BB media player feels and looks like WMP. No complaints from here.
1) iPhone's Safari Browser
I am unable to comment on this point as I had limited ability to use the Storm browser.
In conclusion:
Do you want to buy an MP3 player with a phone option (iPHONE) or do you want fully functional Personal Data Device Phone with great video and music capability. I want the Blackberry. I already have 7 dead ipod's. BTW Storm will be my 6th model of Blackberry. Never broke any of them, never died on me, never stopped working on me. I have my home, my office and my personal life wherever I go.
