Without spending all my free time reading this, I'll just say the rest of the population of the world will wait until Windows 7 actually comes out rather than argue about PRE-BETA versions!!!!!!

I agree that Randall should be fired - he is clearly biased against Windows Vista. As a writer in a computer magazine, he should be presenting un-biased information on computing products and he is clearly NOT doing that! How do I know? I use Vista on my Gateway laptop every day, and it is an EXCELLENT operating system! It performs every bit as quick as Windows XP did on my previous laptop, and I NEVER have any issues or freezes with it whatsoever! This opinion of Vista is based not on bench-mark tests, but on real-world testing - daily use! I am getting sick to death of people bashing Vista! Yes, it REALLY sucked whn it first came out (I'll be the first to admit that!), but Microsoft has done a phenomenal job of improving it, and everyone should experience it now before continuing to bash it!

Its funny that even Paul Thurrott of Supersite for Windows has even criticized Randall Kennedy too. Granted that Windows Seven isn't a major release. However, saying that its just a minor reworking of Vista is wrong. Many would argue that Windows 98 was a "minor rework". However, the total functionality and value brought to computing by that newer OS was greater than the sum of its newer features. Even in 2008, people are still using Windows 98. Thats a huge testament to the legacy of a minor reworking of Windows 95.

Now Windows Seven has graphical, kernel level, security, memory, network, and other deep changes that quite simply cannot be done with Vista. While it fits into a similar driver model, my counter argument of Windows Vista to Windows Seven is like the difference of twins. Both might look the same or dress the same, but the personalities, likes, dislikes, level of intelligence, visual capabilities, and skin features between twins can be drastically different. One could succeed where one utterly fails. It's why twins hate being called by the other's name.

This ultimately proves and lets me agree with nx1071 and others that Randall Kennedy should be fired. The first duty to any journalist is to the unbiased truth. To put your personal feelings aside and present an objective report of whatever it is your tasked to cover. Many writers all over the tech circuit are Apple biased or have an anti-Microsoft bias. Yet many of these tech writers and journalists have failed to be critical of Apple or praise Microsoft for its successes. So why Apple gets constantly praised, Microsoft gets constantly panned. Yet Leopard has been patched over 250 times this year. It has close to 800 vulnerabilities that have not been reported. Nor have they reported that Windows Vista has drastically less vulnerabilities and has been more secure than Leopard. Randall Kennedy fits in the same mold as Pogue and Mossberg. No objectivity and certainly not telling the truth. So please, lets get some unbiased and objective reporters in. Please?

You've nailed it, Dude. This proverbial "tempest in a teapot" not only failed to boil, it also bored me to tears. So, why did I bother to read it? I simply didn't have anything better to do at the time. . . .
