Storm Fans Lash at Critics

It looks that Pogue's critism is well deserved. You can't have someone rated in Apple's Top Ten most Influential people of 2009 review a blackberry product, be this negative, and not expect backlash. He's an idiot because not everyone hated the device. In fact no reviewer said it was completely horrible...even the ones that were critical liked a lot of things about it. He on the other hand found not one thing to lack about the device, which was probably running on an old firmware when he released it.

I have to wonder about the objectivity of a magazine (PCW) that also apparently publishes separate news letters for the iPhone and the iPod. I don't see similar newsletters for any other manufacturer's products. I am new to Blackberry (in fact I was switching from Spring and waiting for Samsung's Omni) and I like the Storm, so far. I think most of the complaints I have seen are fixable with updates and for the most part, pretty minor to begin with. I have already upgraded the OS to .075 and it is a noticeable improvement. FWIW, I have lost most of my confidence in any professional "electronics" writer providing objective reviews. More and more they seem to have decided bias, much like the media does with the Liberals.

"He on the other hand found not one thing to lack about the device, which was probably running on an old firmware when he released it. "
First of all, I tested the BlackBerry Storm supplied to me by the manufacturer. I don't get to choose which firmware I test!
Second, you're quite wrong in saying that I found nothing to like (or "lack," as you spell it). There were four paragraphs full of praise.
Third, my being named an influential critic is neither here nor there. You're trying to suggest that I'm out to boost Apple and trash anyone else, but the facts don't back you up. In fact, I've given nothing but rave reviews to the BlackBerry Bold, Flip, Curve, and Pearl--and many mixed or negative reviews to Apple products. (See here: http://www.davidpogu...os/fanboy.html)
Finally, it would be great if you could learn to express yourself without name-calling.

I've been using my Storm intensely for a couple of weeks now. The SureType is awesome once you get proficient at it. I'm sanguine I can type faster than anybody on an iPhone. The email features and the 3rd party app MyCaption.com are a dream come true for road warriors and mega busy professionals.
IF one doesn't need the media crap--namely a bunch of music stuff--then the Storm is probably a better choice. And it's only getting better with new apps coming out. Agendus is already looking VERY good on the blackberry and I've not seen anything close to it (iambic.com)
Stormin' away!

Because of the unprecedented success of the iPhone, the once best Blackberry suddenly became second. The Storm had been Blackberry fans’ only hope. And when this hope failed, they got mad and hated anyone who told the truth.
No one really expected the Storm to be prefect. But it is worse than anyone imagined. Look at the number of costumers who have returned the Storm, and compare that to iPhone. It tells.
BTW, I do not use an iPhone.

I hope you mean biased against Liberals. Because I sure don't see much progressive thought coming out of Viacom, GE, Time-Warner, News Corp., Disney, etc.
But to the topic of the article. By chance I had my first look at a Blackberry Curve this weekend at a tire place. One of the workers had one and said he loved it. Wifi, email, phone, for a lot less than what an iPhone would set you back.

I was one of those people who was holding out for the Storm. I wasn't interested in the iPhone, if only because I don't use Apple products. I got my Storm the same day it was available. Within that first day, I realized very quickly that it is a train wreck. Bugs, freezing, crappy UI. Thank goodness for Verizon's 30-day return policy. I only needed one day to realize what a mistake I had made. Never again.

I was reading the comments and found out that there is a troll here. I'm looking at you, cameljockey.
However, I was surprised that Mr. Pouge (if he is really pougenyt) commented here on PC World. And he was kinda defensive.
Mr. Pouge makes a comeback! And also the troll...

Pogue said that a blackberry without keyboard is like an iPod Touch without scroll wheel. Ever heard of iPod Touch????? He calls Storm a "dud" ande complains here about name calling. He expects Storms first firmware to perform flawlessly while iPhone of SECOND generation and god knows which firmware update still has bugs. iPhone sucks as a phone; I know, I have one. I really cannot imagine a business user using it to talk for hours. As a media device for fun is great.
