It's difficult to recall the last time I read such a gratuitous, self-important and condescending novella. So many things are "obvious" and "clearly evident" to you, why even make the effort to put your privileged thoughts to words?

Instead of writing mini-novels that reveal your formidable biases--that's right, your biases--among much else, you might take a walk every now and again. Or ride a bicycle. Or chat with a friend. Of go shopping. Or add members to your fish tank. Or draw a picture. Or fly a kite...

Oh-by-the-way..."highly appreciate" is a linear metaphor that means nothing, unless you meant to say that you either appreciate the communication so much that it makes you feel high, or that you were high when you read the communication.

A very dumb, high-school-level effort essay that bears no further response. Just like about 90% of what one reads on the 'Net.

Yes, and in a "fickle economy," he may have saved some people their retirement money by offering an honest appraisal of a flawed product. His review may have been more comprehensive than others', but it would be heresy to claim that the Storm was received with glowing reviews, even passable. Reminds me of when Windows Vista came out and several reviewers were skewered for being overly critical. That worked out well.

"The ONLY thing a review should do is assess the pros and the cons of the product"

Yes and while I agree there were no pros in your review. Anything you listed that could've been considered a pro was all the things already available on blackberry. Nothing about the new unit itself.

"Nope. The iPhone was not reviewed as critically because it wasn't anywhere NEAR as troubled a product as the Storm! The iPhone's chief problem, the dropped-calls problem, never occurred even once on my test unit."

ON YOUR TEST UNIT. That is the same case here, where mine has not experienced any of the issues that you referred to in your review, so is mine defective because you found bugs and mine works just fine?

"The Storm's problems, on the other hand, were present on every single unit shipped."

This is the reason why I believe your review was biased. So mine works fine, David Krakow's works fine, plus a whole host of other reviewers and friends' units as well. Yes there are minor glitches but so does every other phone. So who are you to say taht the problems were present on every single unit shipped? If they were would it be another reviewer's 'best blackberry ever'? This is not to say that you can't have a difference of opinion but for you to say your experience is the experience everyone else will have by saying that the same problems are on every single unit shipped is biased and unprofessional. This is simply because you turn around and then say the iPhone's problems people experienced were not present on your unit. So why wouldn't the same logic be applicable to the Storm?

And to also say that the iPhone's dropped call problems and such were because of AT&T network conjestion is a farce. I do not know if you follow the blog sites but if you did you would see how many people claim that their dropped call rates have improved when they updated their iPhone with the latest firmware and people who still claim to be experiencing it. Some say their dropped calls are about 40% still so is that still due to AT&T traffic? Please visit Boygeniusreport.com and look at any iPhone post and you will see what I mean.

SkateNY I would call you a demeaning term such as an idiot but that would be an understatement.

"His review may have been more comprehensive than others."

Does this even make sense? Have you read any other Storm reviews or seen any other review videos? Mr. Pogue's review was a two-page article. BoyGeniusReport, Engadget, Phonescoop, IntoMobile and countless other reviewers span at least 6 pages, with more in-depth analysis of the features and capabilities of the Storm, as well as its shortcomings. Please tell me how Mr. Pogue's 2 pager is more comprehensive. This only leads me to believe that you do not know what you are talking about so don't bother responding to anything else on this post. And you have the nerve to criticize me using the phrase, 'highly appreciate.' If you knew anything about the topic then I would dignify that with a response. Go back to skating little one.

Hey. Wake up. I don't know whose post you're responding to, but it sure isn't mine. Maybe you entered your reply on a Blackberry Storm?

Let's be honest. Comparing the Storm to the iPhone is like comparing a World Class product to a toy. The iPhone will never compete with a Blackberry.

Okay. Let's be honest. The iPhone is outselling the Blackberry in the US, and not by a little bit. Business consumers have either purchased or are seriously considering purchasing the iPhone for themselves and their employees. The failure rate of all Blackberries is so overwhelming when compared to the iPhone, that it doesn't even make sense to write something as condescending about the Blackberry as to describe it as a toy. No, it's broken and breaking toy.

Honesty? Seems to be an option with you, one that you don't prefer.

You want honesty? Here ya go:

"The iPhone already commands almost a third of the U.S. smartphone market and is steadily growing, while Nokia -- the only company ahead of Apple in sales -- has been consistently losing shareover the past months. In fact, analysts say Apple is "the only reason" the smartphone market stayed strong throughout the year's economic downfall."

Oh-by-the-way...when you post drivel, no one cares about your opinion. It's about as attractive as three-day-old fish, and equally informative.

Well, here's the thing...if you're paying that much money for a device that you depend on virtually every day of your life, it truly should be something more than "not bad."

If the Storm were your car, you'd ditch it in a minute.

That's just great. I'm old enough to have had a friend who loved Betamax, the Ford Edsel and Windows 98. She also liked broccoli ice cream.

Well, people with very little experiences that are "awesome," typically find paper clips and other small shiny objects awesome. Good luck.

Very well said. If people love it so much, why are they bringing it back? Fact is, it's extremely easy to research the return rates for virtually every product available on Google.

Great. So now, and again, price is everything. Even when the product sucks. You met one person in your life, who don't even know, and this means that you found a new way to get a great deal? Wanna invest in my hedge fund?

Trying to figure out what you're attempting to say was a chore. That having been said, the final sentence of your post reveals what you truly believe: the Storm is a toy that makes you giggle. Thanks for sharing. Nice job.

Oh. I get it. It's the users' fault. Must be nice blaming everything that goes wrong in your life on everyone else but you. My God, but you apologists have absolutely no backbone. What's it like being a human trapped in a jelly fish body?

Okay. I see your point. So, if the Storm is such a great product, why are people returning by the raft-load?

Failure is failure, whether it's 2%, 10% or 100%. I'd truly love to read what you would have written had the failure rates between the two phones were reveresed.

I pay good money for something, I both want and expect it to work. Don't tell me about your failure rates. Give me my money back.

A great essay describing why we should passively succumb to and, in fact embrace, inferior products.
