They should also try patching their Update site. Since SP3, several of their updates failed to download, and I've ended up having to search for them on the Download site, and install them manually. I noticed that they also updated their Office Update site, and now it too is screwing up (One failed download, and one attempt to install an Office 2003 patch to my Office 2000). The same files fail on two different computer systems. Microsoft really needs to start getting its act together.

I've noticed that also - but one ONE computer! Laptop XP Home - SP3 = OK.
Desktop XP Pro - SP3 = have to manually go to Update site. The funny thing is that as soon as I open the d/l site, the Shield pops up in my taskbar!

I received the patches yesterday and I waited til today to install them, because I was waiting for the MSFT Office 2007 patch. Since I do not have Office 2007 I do not plan on installing that one.

The updates were installed without any problems.

Hey Everyone!!

I was just reviewing the security patches for this month and

found this interesting blog on the MS-073 patch involving

IE7 in XP and server 2003. They are not sure if it will affect

IE 7 in Vista yet.

If you are intersted plz read http://isc.sans.org/diary.html .

They also mentioned that if you use a Different browser,

`` you are not affected``

I haven't noticed any difference with earthlink, but I only use it as an adjuct mailbox, for the public stuff. I kept the mail box after switching ISPs. coastie65

Well this sure did start for myself, and I use Earthlink's Mailbox program 99.9% of the time. I have a Yahoo Acct as a back up acct only.

The other item that stopped working for me, was Earthlink's, what they and I call it there New style Home Page, www.preview.my.earthlink.net as now it defaults to there OLD Style home page, [http://www.my.earthlink.net] . And I have Called Earthlink Tech support, I have also gone on with there Live Chat and no one at Earthlink seems to know what the Heck I'm talking about! But that is Normal for Earthlink's Tech Support, they must have the Worst Tech Support on the Web. Most of the time I end up finding and fixing my own problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Other than that I Love Earthlink, and have been with them for over 15 years!!!!

Do not use Comcast what ever you do, Anyone!!!!

I had earthlink as an ISP when I had Dial up. I left them when I got FiOS as the it was Verizon.net plus either msn.com or Yahoo.com and I went with MSN. I kept my earthlink mailbox at $3.95 per month and I use it for my public ( secondary) box. From the links you gave, The first mentioned "PREVIEW". I'm wondering if it is operational as it may not be as yet and the reason for the default. There should be an option somewhere to set the default for that thing. coastie65

Thank you for talking with me about this. The http://www.preview.my.earthlink.net/] has been there NEW Home page for over two years. And about a month ago, they put a notice on that page that there was going to be all these New Feathers "COMING SOON". Bu then that home page just stopped and it defaults to the Very Old Style home page, [http://www.my.earthlink.net/] .

But so far I can't get anyone at Earthlink Tech support, Via Phone Call, Via E-mail & Via Live Chat to there Tech support that can tell me what the Heck happen. Like I said before This is Earthlink's only Major Problem is this Tech. Support. It's all over in India, I think by there voices and the spelling of the Tech's first names that they use when you E-mail or Live Chat them. And on the Phone thwy what to "Take Control of your Computer from India, "DO NOT LET THEM DO THIS!!!!" They have messed up my system more buy doing this, and it you have setup's of your own, they will be all gone if you do not watch them and very close to see what they are messing with on your system. Like my Passwords, and Form Fill items I never clear out as I am the only one that uses this computer, but on two or three times they go into "Internet Options" and delete All Browsing History before you can tel them NO, Stop or pull the connection on them. They do not know what they are doing over there at all. I have fixed 98% of my problems on my own, but it may take me a week or so of trying this or that till I find the Fix.

I'm thinking that maybe they took the New Home page off line to put these new updates to the site, but did not tell anyone in there Tech support department at all, and since my system is still set to go to the new [http://www.preview.my.earthlink.net/] home page, but there system is sending me to the old page, someone must know about it there.

You can still find both of these sites on any Search Sites that you go to. But if you try and open the new style, it does just like my own computer does, it goes to tthe old page. This below is from Mircosoft Live Search Engine,

h3. [Welcome to myEarthLink

Coming soon, your myEarthLink Start Page will change to include some great new ... DSL Service; Cable Service; DSL and Home Phone Service; EarthLink Wi-Fi
preview.my.earthlink*.net
h3. - Welcome to myEarthLink
... you most, and arrange them all on one single Web page. ... Inside EarthLink. Save & access your favorite sites from any ... Home/Garden; Tech Shop; More...
my.earthlink*.net
Maybe in a week or so it will be back on, I Hope!! As I like the sew page much better than the old.
Yahoo, used almost the same kind of wording when they brought out there new Home Page, they put the word "Preview" in the line also.

There must be a major upgrade that resulted in them having to pull it in order to make the upgades and add the new features. Not unheard of. Yeah, I've been through the remote drill once with eMachines tech support in India. I watched what he was doing, and he failed to complete the operation, before doing a restart. I knew that i had some work to do then,, and I was hot. When I got back, I got a different "Tech" and let him have it. I then filed a complaint with eMachines, not that that did any good. Anyway, I left earthlink a little over two years ago, buthad Verizon offered them as choice I would have taken it, as I was happy with them over all. I have also found in some cases, I couldn't get an up date so when they released a new version of their software and I couldn't update, I would request the CD. I would then uninstall the old stuff and reinstall the new stuff from the CD. The thing was FREE anyway. coastie

Why are you so biased against Comcast? I have been using the service since computers were made out of wood.
Can't get 10-25 mb/sec anywhere else in my area.
