What do you know about the Magic Jack? I am considering buying one. It can now be purchased from Radio Shack.

I works fine, but you need a decent computer (dual core) and at aleast a 1 Mbps connection.

When I received my magicjack, I was very impressed. That ended rather quickly, though. You see, first of all, you MUST have a WindowsXP or Vista in order for it to work. This means that it must be a brand new computer, not an upgraded computer from Windows 98SE! Ok, I was lucky enough to have one so I plugged in my magicjack. For about 4 to 5 months, I called everyone of my friends and family members and recommended magicjack to them. Many bought it.
Right now, I am sitting here without a working magicjack and it has been longer than a month! I called Tech services and went through step=by-step directions in order to get it working again. It took about an hour and it still wouldn't work, but the tech wanted to try some of the directions over again to see if they would now take effect, but they did not. She told me that they would send me another one sans charge, but, I wouold have to send the broken magicjack back within a month after I receive the new one in order not to be charged. Since 3 1/2 weeks have already passed and I have not gotten a new magicjack, I am going to guess that I am being scammed....How so?, you ask? Well, I will probably get the new magicjack on the thirtieth day AFTER which I have spoken to the technician. Then, as I use the container that is inside to mail the old magicjack back to the company, they will of course, tell me that a month has now passed and they will sorrowfully have to charge me another $40.00!
If you want to hear from others who have had this happen to them, please feel free to go to: www.RipOff.com and just type in magicjack and see all of the complaints for yourself.
As for me, right now I would advise you to wait just a bit longer, at least long enough for them to fix the bugs in magicjack. It was great while it lasted, but now I still have 6 or 7 months left of a phone service that I have already paid for, and NO magicjack to use for it.
