the title says - The iPhone 3G Unlock Chart: Will Your Carrier Work? - but where is the chart? I have also seen a LOT of coverage about how lame this crack is and how you might NOT want to do it. where is the balance?

With all the hoopla about unlocking, how does Apple unlock it differently?? I have an iPhone 3G purchased from the Apple Store in Hong Kong that was unlocked by default (HK does not allow the sale of locked/restricted cellphones). It worked just fine with a T-Mobile SIM right out of the box, with no special set-up required (even registration on the Apple US website went through without a hitch). Further, I installed the OS 2.2 software upgrade and that also went smoothly and did not lock the phone. So, is it that Apple unlocks the Hong Kong-destined iPhones at the factory via hardware settings that 3rd party software cannot duplicate?? Or??

Method #3: buy a Nokia 5800, N97, or Google G1, and pay less for a better phone.

Why are people so eager to get a product which the manufacturer is refusing them ? Apple does NOT want me to own or operate an iPhone. These days there are plenty of alternatives.

Boycott Apple.

Buckwalter,

I'm not sure what you're unhappy about. There's no way to just recreate the contents of the Yellowsn0w feedback report on the PC World blog sites, nor would I find it appropriate to just leech the contents of the entire site were that even possible. I'd much rather link to a handy Web site that people can use to help them with an important procedure than post absolutely nothing at all, especially when this giant carrier unlock feedback page saves you time from having to root through hundreds of forum posts for a solution.
