I can see the utility of each of these for the PCWorld audience, but doubt that more than 2 or 3 of them will achieve broad public adoption. Mashable had a similar feature a few weeks ago and I felt the same way about that list. One site they listed that I now find myself using every day is www.FindingDulcinea.com, which explains and augments the news as well as any site I've come across.

Some of these sites may appeal to a large amount of people, but I feel that these are more niche websites/services. I think a site like Woopid has the potential to appeal to a huge amount of people. Basically it's a free, quick video tutorial resource for pcs/macs and the internet. What I like about it is videos are very short, and I often find a quick answer - i've started checking there first before I search google for tech help.

Another site I stumbled upon that I could see being very useful is Embedr.com . The problem with video hosting sites nowadays is that they aren't compatible. If you have uploaded 10 videos to YouTube, 10 videos to Vimeo, and 10 videos to Blip.tv, you can't have a uniform user experience when you embed them on your site. This site lets you put them all into one player, with up to 100 videos at a time. I can see this getting huge use on social networking sites where people just want to put their favorite 10 music videos, and also for webmasters that want to share video collections as part of an article or feature.

I found that http://blip.fm to be pretty good. It has a lot of the old songs that I like.

Good report. Just discovered http://TwitR.Me , they describe themselves as Cross Social Network Messaging Bus...
Sounds a like a Twitter Picture, Ask Twitter, Twitter Video, Twitter Maps, Twitter Bots, Twitter Private Group, Twitter Search, Twitter Tiny URL, if they execute... it will be something to write about.

I find http://openprox.info pretty useful. A lot of people are having troubles accessing certain websites because some countries are blocking everything. It shouldn't be this way. Inforation is free.

Why don't you say a word about VZOchat.com for example with about 30K users per day and the best videochat technology?

I don't know if Tripit will be the travel site to take off this year. I think people will be flocking to sites that will save them money ... We did a list of four other cool travel sites here:

At NileGuide (http://www.nileguide.com/), we believe that personalization and "one-stop shopping" will become powerful consumer trends in 2009. Like TripIt, we seen to help travelers organize their itinerary. However, instead of arranging their booking confirmations, we provide personalized recommendations, integrated planning and booking tools, and a free downloadable custom guidebook for the trip. Check us out and let us know what you think...

As a developer I am always looking for well laid out informational sites that speak plain english. Eveyone thinks developers should know everything about computers and honestly, just cause I can create an application doesn't mean I know everything about windows or can keep up with all new software releases like Office 2007 or the latest virus threats. For that reason I rely on well researched blogs that gather the information for me so I don't have to spend all my time doing it. My favoite sites (at the moment):

http://angbiondo.com (awesome new site with down to earth tips about the up and coming Windows 2007 and Vista also pc security and other well researched articles and other relavant software... this guy seems to do a lot of research about Microsoft and Sun Micro. Site is kind of campy but the content is excellent.)

http://blog.sqlauthority.com (awesome site about everything sql and database related ... love it!!! Pinal Dave is a Microsoft MVP who knows his stuff!!!)

mintywhite.com/tech/ (yes weird name for a tech blog... nevertheless... awesome articles and posts are updated often. Conquers many quirky issues about Windows and has a lot of How-to's)

I'm a family man myself with 4 kids...and I found a great family management website to find local events and activities in Ohio..its called Kidslinked.com. I was speaking to the CEO of the company at a networking event, and he mentioned they are going national at the end of July...this is such a great idea!
