WHEW !!! 53" is a lot of real estate. Took me a lot of getting used to with the 42". Was a big transition from a 27" tube. The PS2 works well with the RGB Component hook up. I've stayed away from the Xbox. With all the talk of the RROD's and being on a small fixed income, I tend to take my expenditures seriously. Can't afford to gamble as it were. With three platforms ( PS2, PS3, & PC ) to indulge in my gaming on, I think it is enough.

Single console users are so full of it. LOL. Kids, grow up, and use them all! PC, PS/x Xbox/x Wii, why miss out on anything? Then you have to bash this or that. Oh but I forgot, consoles are just toys for big kids. Hey I'm a kid at heart, and I like consoles. But silly people that miss out on things, only have console toys, nothing under the hood... Whereas, having experienced a wide range of games, the most Kick-4$$ platform is a souped-up overclocked gaming PC platform. Think of it, just in a single 8800GTX GPU, you have about 600Million+ transistors, put two of these together, 1.2Billion transistors, all working simultaneously to render your game in full glory! That's not counting the quad core (now soon to be 8 core) CPU with another 500 million transistors per core... Lol, how can you compare any console to that kind of processing power? Don't forget 4 transistors per byte of RAM.. How many Gigs of memory do you have in a console?

Face it, consoles and PC's are not in the same league. Never has, never will. Console, are $200, $300 toys, and nothing else. Sure they can attempt to sway you with propaganda. Do you believe everything you hear or read?

~~~~~~~~~~
In the end, you always get what you pay for...
Quality is never expensive.
Yes, it's a good thing there are so many AAA PC exclusives out and in the works right now that take advantage of that kind of power.
I am glad you see it that way. Most recent games know how to multi-thread, and squeeze the last bit of performance out of those GPU's. BTW, Valve's Steam is a very convenient distribution method. And an interesting statistics they run once in a while, is to scan our PC's to see the kind of CPU, RAM, GPU etc... Somehow, in the stats are a very few people using 128 cores! No kidding! I wonder what Valve's up to? But for sure, the PC industry is driven by this quest for more and more power, speed, video quality, frames-per-second, zeroping, no-lag, no-limit etc... What do you think made nVidia, and ATI world class leaders of video cards? Certainly not 2D Excel spreadsheets, or Word documents...
And in case you're being sarcastic, you should really give the PC gaming industry a fair look. They do vary from consoles, there is a much deeper, finer granularity of selection for the PC in terms of video games. How do I know? Because I do both, consoles, and PCs... Most of the blockbuster games, except for the purposely exclusive brand console ones, are making it to the PC world. The software developers, look it as a lucrative potential market they just can't ignore. Even Halo (albeit older version) is available for the PC. And there are many games on the market exclusively PC. Most of the legacy consoles are emulated in a virtual environment on the PC (for free!)
Don't laugh, I still play Quake. Yes I've got all the quakes1,2,3,4 and variations, but the original Quake1 online against human opponents are a BLAST!!!
And once in a while, the original DOS DOOM!!! I love the music! No kidding...
Longevity? The PC started the real gaming industry!!! And the future of gaming is in the PC due to its power...
PS: the x86 and xbox360 CPU's are vastly different architecture. One has been continually refined and upgraded for the past 33 years, the other (in XBOX) a mere Motorola PowerPC. Sold as a toy, for less than $200 complete system...
Hi Win, Perfect post to those who pronounce PC gaming as dead. The versatility of the PC alone, would say otherwise. This thing isn't your over the top gaming machine by no means, but after numerous upgrades here and there, it will do the job adequately. My Nephew has a Nintendo64 as well as Gamecube and I have played both and found them satisfying. I can remember when I thought the Commodore 64 was really something, way back when. Having a very sick dog, that may not be with us much longer has kept me out of the mood for gaming and pretty busy tending to him. I agree that multiplatforms is good, if you have the resources, but if not, then a good gaming PC would be a good choice due to the versatility.
Yep. You don't need much to run spreadsheets and WP's. CAD / CAM stuff is a little different though, as you would need a decent Video set up such as NVidia's Quadro stuff.
