At some point we should all be using "netbooks"--as nothing else. Add to that we can't actually trust any program or for that matter any media from the web, and we have a compromised store of knowledge and communication. Layered protection is one step toward a compromising solution*...

*No, I actually meant that. It appears at any point we will be compromised by any solution we attempt to adopt. The "we" is users of computers.
