There's a much easier way for IT professionals to prepare for Windows 7. Don't. Use something else.

For those who can't wait to try or start using this kind of always-connected capability, an available option is a product called VPN Dialer 2009 (readily available by searching any search engine). While not an exact equivalent, but it does allow setting up a persistent VPN link from Windows XP/Vista to any RRAS server using a standard VPN user account over IPv4, and keeps it connected even when no user is logged on, for as long as the remote system has power and Internet access. Benefits like remote administration, seamless access to corporate resources, etc. are available to XP and Vista without requiring an upgrade to Windows 7.
