Baby Shaker App Approved, Then Removed

Yes, isn't it amazing that so many of us grew up exposed to foul language, spankings, were punished for misbehavior, lost soccer games because they kept score, and so on? In fact, these days you'd think that the slightest exposure to a negative thought or image would shatter childrens' psyches and turn adults into violent rage-aholics. I'm so glad we have people like Steve Jobs and Barak Hussein Obama to take good care of us and keep us from all things uncomfortable.

As far as I can see no one here is condoning, encouraging, tolerating, or even laughing about real life instances of child abuse in any form.
Please stop and debate the arguments people are actually presenting. It's getting hard to see each other in here with all the straw men in the way.
Mothman seems to at least understand the concept of dark humor, used to express frustration by exaggeration:
"Phydeux, I'd love to meet you on a cold landing in a big prison...I'd shake you alright.."
Or else he's not kidding at all and is the type of person to bomb medical clinics. But I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

On the other hand it's entirely possible I'm the calous black heart percieving it as a joke when in fact it is meant to be a utilitarian app for parents for those times when your baby is out of arm's reach but still within earshot. Convenient.
But I doubt it. Probably just a joke. :)

Ha! I spoke too soon on not one but two
counts:
"As far as I can see no one here is condoning,
encouraging, tolerating, or even laughing about real life instances of child
abuse in any form."
Which RoC1909 immediately rectified with "you
use this time to care for your SHAKEN BABY!!! LOL!"
And:
"Or
else he's not kidding at all and is the type of person to bomb medical clinics.
But I'm willing to give him the benefit of the
doubt."
Which Mothman promptly corrected, adding
"I'll bet my house, my car and my entire life savings you
wouldn't agree to meet me in person to thrash this matter out
peronally."
Oh well.

I think my "problem" is that myself and my wife are expecting our first child any time, like a week or so. People laughing about this app is not funny to me, nor would it have been if I NEVER had kids, was 15 yrs old or 55 yrs old, blah, blah, blah.
Don't try to compare this to Grand Theft Auto, and certainly not to a road traffic accident (that word, "accident" is kinda the giveaway there, tough-guys), because this subject is totally on par with the "lynch the black" thing someone else suggested. It is an off-limits topic, which says more about those who find it amusing than it does about those who dreamed it up in a moment of misguided inspiration.
Joking about maiming and killing infants is not the same as 99.9% of other "dark" or "gallows" humour, as you call it.

While I'll never condone the "shaking of an infant" or any other kind of humanly abuse, I honestly think people are making far too big a deal out of something as lame as this. Here's a hint, folks: If you don't like the idea of a child being shaken to death--DON'T SHAKE YOUR CHILD! As for the psychos who thought this little app up (likely trying to be funny, but not doing a very good job), I'd suggest you keep yourselves and your kids faaaaaaaaaar away from them--problem solved.
Molehills to mountains much? Why can't we focus more on how Apple approved it in the first place? That might be more productive and less...flamewar-invoking.

Although I was never blessed with kids while I was married, it is devastating to see this as most babies don't survive. I have also taken care of some abuse complaints dealing with this thread. It is unfortunate that there are some crass people out there, with no feelings towards others and their plight. I wish you and yours well. coastie

People like you and I decide what is of value, of course. The fact is, we are not always going to agree on the definition of value, or if it even needs to exist in a product. It was just my 2 cents on this issue.
However, I can't help but wonder why someone would "go there" with an app like this. I understand that dark humor is a fairly relative subject and can be defined and perceived differently by different people. I just wonder what thought, memory, experience, etc. prompted this person enough to develop this app.

While I don’t really like the app, seems kind of pointless and stupid to me, like a lot of the entertainment out there. One thing I will say is about all the hype on Apple's "inconsistencies", this seems to be one of the very few slips Apple has made. Why doesn’t anyone bring up all the MS problems and countless slip ups on a monthly basis? Anyways, just saying that if you don’t like it don’t buy it or play it. Same with movies, games, etc. Its one of those GTA situations, I think anyone with an ounce of common sense isn’t going to get the urge to go kill people after playing the game. Just MHO.
