Or you could just use the Instant Search feature built into Windows Vista without having to do anything. Just type the name of the foler you wish to access as soon as you open the Start menu. The more you use the search funstion, the quicker your results appear. Remember, the Instant search feature looks for everything on your PC, and if you use MS Office, it will look inside those files as well. Give it a shot instead of creating shortcuts that take up your menu space.

Good idea NovaGeek, but don't forget that 1) not everyone's brain works the same way, so multiple approaches aren't necessarily bad, and 2) sometimes you don't know what the name of the file is or even what's in it (or if it's a picture there isn't a real way to search the content in Windows) but you know generally where it is, such as in a shortcut folder. In the second case, it might be easier and/or faster to open the folder and skim it visually, perhaps jogging your memory. Windows 7 is combining these approaches with the "Library" feature though, which looks like a good idea, since it allows you to search, and collects similar files in one place as well.

Why not create a file on your desktop and put them all in there; add an icon if you like.
