Microsoft: No Vista SP2 for You Yet

This is far too little, far too late. Sure, if you're running Vista for now, I'm sure it's worth installing, but I'm already running the Windows 7 RC build, and now only am I having practically no issues whatsoever, it's blazing fast compared to Vista, and has some much-improved features. Also, now I'm running the 64-bit edition which makes all 4GB of my RAM usable, and I'm really seeing the true power of my AMD Phenom quad core processor. Compared to Vista, it's almost like I got a whole new machine.
I've done my best to defend Vista, and I still believe it was a necessary growing pain, but it just can't hold a candle to what Windows 7 is offering. When the final version gets released to the public, I'm going to be recommending that all Vista users upgrade IMMEDIATELY. For that matter, people on XP should stop waiting and upgrade as well. Like it or not, XP is beginning its death march, and Windows 7 has already proven itself to be a worthwhile upgrade.

No, Windows 7 is NOT Vista SP2, neither in the technical nor the cynical sense. Granted, Microsoft has a reputation, but sheesh, at least look at the thing before you judge it. If you have not installed and tested any of the Windows 7 builds, you have no right to badmouth it. I'm sure plenty of people will manage to find fault with it, but seriously, the way this is shaping up, Windows 7 will be to Vista what XP was to Windows Me. It's not perfect (nothing is), but it's by far the best consumer OS they've ever come out with.
