Pentax is a well known name in the camera industry and this unit does an exceptionally good job in all categories of photography. I have been using a P50 unit for the last four years and have been very pleased with its performance. The only drawback is in getting the unit serviced. Only just this year it has been exhibiting a fault. When the unit first turns on, all is well but after taking one picture, the unit refuses to return to the display on the panel. You have to turn it off and back on again to get it to display anything. Pentax wants $75. just to look at it and it has to be shipped back to the service center in China. It could easily be replaced for the cost of service, shipping and insurance, so why bother. If the new units don't last longer than four years, they are a borderline purchase, I just assume that mine has been treated a bit rough and lucky to last this long.
