First of all, that's not me, I actually have the decency to use proper English when possible and capitalize my i's when speaking about myself.

Learn who you're talking to before you make yourself look like an ass. The only thing I complained about was the bluetooth and the crashes, took an hour and a half for me to get my keyboard and mouse synced properly, which is wireless obviously, but nowhere did I say anything about wireless card drivers and printer drivers.

So no, apparently I DIDN'T toss that out there for the sake of doing there, and those WEREN'T examples of ME blaming Linux.

oops, sorry bout that, I thought I did reply to the right person. I apologize for the mix up.

Still it is a valid reply for the person who DID post that crap.

and incidentally - I was with you on the bluetooth bit.

No problem, I just get a little touchy when being accused of something I don't do.

That's also why I don't get why you kept arguing with it (bluetooth).

Windows is still here to stay on desktop , notebooks and netbooks because people are accustomed to it and wouldn't give another O/S a try because it is again a steep learning and further the most important question : Will it support all my devices and provide the drivers..

1) I've spent a very frustrating 3 hours with our helpful local ISP Swisscom techs trying to configure Windows 7 to connect with their hi speed internet service.

.Luckily they do not charge for service calls and spoke excellent English,

No doubt I will be doing the same with other ISP's who will charge my clients a premium rate for the call using a mixture of English ,French or Geman !

2) Windows 7- whatever Microsoft says-will gobble up a lot of resources and move at the speed of an arthritic snail even on good wired conections let alone' internet every where 'dongles.

3) In comparison take gOS 'out of the box ' or rather from the Download file ,stick it any old pentium3 or 4 or new netbook and it:-

a) boots up very quickly and works 1st tme

b)looks and handles like a mac

c) has all the essentials.intenet, office, and entertainment that most punters want

d) is paid for by all those nice people who advertise on google .

And if your pc is really ancient try Slitaz -it'll work on anything apart from macs and who can afford these anyway.

Forget Suse,Ubuntu, kukubuntu.Mepis,Lipus etc with their poor graphic designs and mickey mouse names-stick with Google,Firefox and open office and who care if it's a Linux as long as it works well and with microsoft!

Instead of all this arguing back and forth about which OS is better for netbooks, Linux or Windows, and which one will dominate, I think the marketplace should be allowed to decide. However, I tend to agree with one of the posters on this board that it could very well be Windows simply because of the general public's overall familiarity with it. That makes a lot of sense.

You have to keep the political attitudes in mind also. Linux may have its flaws but is open and free. US is too close to Microsoft not to notice anything new coming out of there and being impressed with features, etc but the rest of the world are not professional consumers and prefer OS to be a tool and not a renewable license. Some countries in S America have developed their own linux-based OS to bypass Microsoft. Future is not determined by cool features alone

When I get a netbook, it will run BOTH Linux AND Windows 7. I couldn't care less about other OSes...

hey, thats what I am gonna do. ( actually what I am doing right now )

I will run Linux to surf web ( less virus ) and use Windows 7 ( no internet connection ) to play games, PhotoShop or any applications that MUST use Windows. ]:)

You don't have to worry about viruses... Neither do you have to worry about Y2K, SARS, the swine flu, mad-cow-disease, and all that BS. I use Windows and NEVER got infected. EVER. So? What is there to worry about? ;)

PS: Just be smart about it, and don't run as root and watch where you step...
