Who in their right mind uses Google for news. Yahoo is so much better at this. If you want content, you should be using Yahoo.

I have my iGoogle page customized with news from the NY Times, CNN.com, The Wall Street Journal and Sports Illustrated, as well as market feeds and a portfolio of hot stocks.
My Yahoo page shows me the latest news about American Idol.
I guess if I cared about American Idol, I'd also think Yahoo was better at news...

You can easily do the same in Yahoo, and much more. You have much better communities in Yahoo. Much better tools for investors too.

Plus, Bing seems to think that people are looking for "products" in their searches;
try looking for "coconut macaroon" recipes, for example. You WILL be disappointed.

Another anti-microsoft article..
Hey PC World if you keep writing these types of articles that are anti-microsoft. You are not going to exist some day. After all PC World relies on Microsoft.

David looks like you are so much pissed with Microsoft that you now close your eyes before evaluating their products.
@" want to like the little snippets of page information that appear when you hover your cursor off to the right of a search result."
You call it useless and distraction? cm'on wen ur searching a lot f links are jus plain useless...or u like to open all of em 1 by 1 to see which 1 has usefull data? I think this function is the most useful one.
regarding news: u seem so much obsessed wid using google, have u even using yahoo n others? everything u mentioned is possible.
@"Not sure how they would do this"
Obv..otherwise u cud ve come up wid a better product.
and btw, its still in beta. A product matures over time. At least give it some time before u completely thrash it wid words like unbearable

It's really not an "anti-microsoft" article; I, too, have nothing against MS, try to defend them when I think they're being unfairly picked on, but the few searches I've done on Bing don't give the results I expect OR need.

I think its a bit odd that his is the first hit when I google bing, while all other search engines give me bing.com

This is, even beside all the misspelling, one of the worst/subjective reviews I have read so far.

Go to Google and search for bing and do it the other way around. Bing isn't good enough to really hurt google yet, but at least the competition starts to get interesting...

The article is unbearably light. I found many PC Mag’s writers are just as “light” as those who write for free newspapers that you get on the seats of the morning trains. It makes me wonder if they even have a computer at home. I stopped my subscription long time ago, but hoped online version will have something good once a while, but I found it’s full of articles like the one above. I think PC Mag will have to close its door soon unless fire these “light” writers.

this article isn't "anti-MS", it more like anti-stupidity.
google is huge in the search engine market, hard for anyone to challenge it.

So you are pretty much saying something like: Microsoft is huge in Operating Systems/Office Software, let them have their monopoly, who chalanges them is stupid!

So you judge with double standards: Googles search monopoly is just fine while the big market share of MS in OS and Office Software is bad?
I think the user should be happy that Microsoft tries to gain back market share in search, because the one who profits most of it is the user of the search engines, no matter if he uses Google, Bing, Yahoo or another competitor

Dude, I never said anything about "MS in OS and Office Software is bad", I just focus on the bing.

Which one can be the big guy depends on the users, what do they like to use. For now, instead of tell people to "search online", we often say "google it", we can see how big google is now.
