Right now there are two extremely important apps I use on my Blackberry. One comes from my brokerage and allows me to trade stocks and options via my Blackberry. The other is from a company called, REXWireless. If you have ever used it you will understand why many professionals believe it is simply the best mobile app ever conceived. And I don't say that lightly. RIM truly should buy REXWireless because where they go, I go.

But the Pre has the best multi-tasking I have ever seen. One of the things I hate about all operating systems is that alerts hold up everything until you answer them. Where as on the Pre, alerts are just a running task that doesn't take you away from what you are doing. That right there is a break-through feature in my opinion. I would like to see that in Windows and in everything else. At least as an option. I very much hate it when I am working and an alert pops up and interrupts what I am doing, and what the focus is.

I'd love to see the Pre become a Netbook alternative OS. I loved that netbook type idea Palm had a while back. and everyone bad-mouthed it to death. I was on the waiting list for one of those. And look now how popular netbooks are. I think palm was on to something there, but the public was too ignorant to realize it. Anyone who tried to leave their laptops at home while on a 3 day business trip can tell you that smart phones do a lot, but not quite enough. and no one likes lugging a 5 lb or worse a 7 lb laptop around. These 2 and 3 pound netbooks took off like a rocket because they are such a welcomed addition to our computing needs. And smart phones are getting better too. I'd like to be able to run the same app on my netbook as my smart phone. If that ends up being Android, then okay, I could be tempted to go Android.

I personally liked the concept Microsoft had with Windows CE. Pocket apps is a great idea. It was just way too far ahead of its time. But I think people are just now getting that concept. Further, I think they want it now.

Good luck Palm. Think bigger though. Think about everything.

suggestion, sign up as a Palm 'developer'.
when the Palm Pre Web OS SDK - software develpment kit, comes out, sign up for it.

I'm an investor, not a developer.

I picked up a Pre early yesterday morning. I was 13th in line, and they were sold out before we left the store.
I don't know how many phones they had though.
(This was from a Sprint store)

I LOVE this phone! I used it almost non-stop all yesterday up until about 2am.
I was paranoid at first about the battery life, but you have to take into consideration what you are doing.

I let my wife look at it for about 20 minutes, and she had about 20 "cards" open because she didn't know how to close anything.

Also, running the GPS an Wi-Fi has the potential to eat up your battery life more quickly.

That being said, I took the family to the zoo today and had no problems at all with battery life..even though I forgot to charge it overnight! =P

I used it to take a lot of pictures and send them to my facebook account throughout the day...and sneak looks at the web and other apps when the wife and kids weren't looking.

By the way, the camera takes great pictures!

I upgraded from a Palm Treo, so I actually think the keyboad is an improvement. I have big fingers and have no problems at all with the layout.

A couple of ways you can conserve your battery life. Don't stay signed in to AIM or GTalk if you don't have to. That sucks major battery juice. Also, turn off WiFi if you know a network is not avaialable or if you know you're won't connect to one. It also helps to reduce the screen brightness. And, of course, any time you stream (Pandora or videos), you're sucking a lot of battery.
