The stock picture PCWorld is using for the IPHONE and PRE. The PRE is stretched. Please see this website for dimensions and pics: http://the-mobiler.c...vs-the-palm-pre
I saw another article on this website who used the same stock photo.

I would love to own a Pre, however Sprint is not available in the area that I live. I would sign a contract with Sprint if they would agree to give me service, which they won't because of where I live, and also assure me that the Sprint network works just the same when using Verizon towers.
I have called to get this information from them, and they tell me I will use every Verizon tower just as if it were a Sprint tower. Reading online however, I have seen that this is not the case. I guess I can just wait another 6 months........
And the iphone sucks.

This is the exact same information from May, there is nothing new here. Why are these blogs rerunning this old news. Just about everyone knew Verizons CEO was blowing smoke, nothing has changed. As some have touched on, Verizon tried to undermine Sprints launch of the Pre, at the same time keep Verizon customers from switching. Verizon is not getting the Pre!!!

OK I hate the fact that AT&T can't keep up with Apple frankly for the amount of money paid for my unlimited everything service on AT&T I am pissed the heck off.
But, VERIZON, HELL NO!!!
More like VERIZON-NAZI..
Verizon is the company that currently charges for the use of GPS on their phones like one they made the phone and two like they put the sats up in space for the service.
Verizon is also the company that was once in litigation over the blocking of features of Bluetooth so it can hold it customers back from doing basic functions like downloading free MP3 ringtones and certain file exchanges that they wanted to charge for.
If Verizon is who is gonna get it Apple better smack Verizon into shape and say you don't do any of that with the iPhone because if not I rather go without.
I love my iPhone but after seeing how Verizon controls things like GPS and ringtones, you might as well say Hail Hitler, I will give up my phone and go back to my old Samsung Blackjack and just suffer. Verizon may have a good network but they suck everywhere else.

Not sure on the issue of Sprint using Verizon towers. I think there is an agreement in place on that one. The fact is that Sprints 3g network is the best on the market right now and they are already offering the 4th generation in some areas. Never had roaming fees or services problems in areas covered by verizon.
I laughed loudly when I heard about the AT&T upgrade program for current customers. With Sprint, I've gotten phones at the same price as new customers for some time every 18 months. Now it's at $75 more after 9 months.
Earlier I read an article that stated that the iphone was a better deal at $199 for 16g but when you figure in the additional $50 or so per month for 2 years. That's $150 for each gig by the time you complete the contract.
As far as verizon getting the pre, I think it has more to do with keeping customers that left Sprint and other carriers for the 2 for 1 Blackberries. One thing that seems to be missing from this article is the fact that At&t also stated they were getting the pre in the same time frame. Also if I remember right the Verizon statement said a "WebOS device" meaning it could be a different Palm maybe the EOS, if Palm decides to release it.

I have had Verizon for 5 years and absolutely hate the company. Their service isn't all it's cracked up to be, their phones suck for the most part and their customer service reps are idiots. Since my contract doesn't expire till Feb. 2010 I am stuck with them but I dropped my minutes to the minimum and blocked text messaging.
I moved to Los Angeles a year ago and have had more dropped calls on Verizon in this huge metro region than I ever had in 5 years in podunk GA. I got the Instinct Mini on Sprint two months ago with the Simply Everything plan and I couldn't be happier with it.
I have yet to drop a call even in my house which was a nightmare with Verizon. Sprint customer service has been decent the one time I talked to them - actually they called me to see if I was happy with my service.
I wish I had waited for the Pre and may still try to get it. Unless Verizon seriously changes, I don't care what phones they get; when my contract expires, I am never going back to Verizon. I am not a hateful person but I honestly wouldn't mind if the company went under.
