Why print coupons, tickets, etc? Probably anyone sufficiently tech-oriented to want a web-centric printer already carries a PDA or cellphone, photo-capable media player, maybe an e-book reader. Why couldn't electronic authorizations be sent to the user, which could be authenticated electronically at time of redemption, as are credit/debit cards? I could imagine some variation of 2- or 3-dimensional barcode, a stegnographic logo, etc, that could be loaded into a smartphone, netbook, PDA or even an e-reader. How about loading the bar-code on the e-reader, then a sales clerk scans it like a paper coupon on check-out? As for news feeds, maps, weather updates, family photos, etc, I suspect most are more useful if presented electronically for updates. (I will concede that maps at times are best evaluated in paper form ... until you don't have the one you really need and need to zoom in for detail that just isn't offered by the printer.) Certainly there are many situations where printed hardcopy is the best choice, but I am not convinced that the alleged advantages suggested for this printer are compelling.
