Think Twice Before Upgrading to IE8

Well, I haven't had those particular problems with my Win7 freebie system.. just the problems where some sites wouldn't recognize that I was using an IE browser, telling me I needed to get IE6 (I guess) ... I really hate that, and I hate sites requiring active-x as well.. The IE8 browser and Win 7 are ok, but I still spend over 98 percent of my time running Linux. (I skipped XP and Vista completely at home but thought I'd give em a try) .. so I kind of doubt I'll continue after trial is over.

Windows sux on some PCs, Linux sux on others. IE doesn't work for one, Firefox doesn't work for another. WTF?
Maybe it's the PC (or the user) that has a problem, not the software.
If you're going to bash something, at least show legitimate problems. One, two, or even a dozen cases out of millions of users certainly doesn't qualify it as poor software.
And, yes- I've been using IE8 for a few weeks now on XP with no problems at all.

Exactly.
Most people are stuipid when it comes to computers. You can't trust them to upgrade it themselves or even operate one.
There is absolutely no real evidence that IE8 alone will make your computer inoperable. If your computer did become a vegetable after installing it, then you did something stupid.

I have been using IE8 on my laptop and I recently upgaded to IE8 on my desktop, running Windows XP with SP3 and it is working ABSOLUTLY FINE. I read those articles provided through link, all those things are just lame comments. Some articles are so loosely written.

@ Anandvvn,
I don't think the point is that IE8 is "bad". I think the point is that other browsers are better. Chrome is the fastest browser. If you use regularly online applications (like google docs), you will see tangible benefits. Firefox is also fast (not as fast as Chrome though) and has a huge library of add-on that can make your life a lot easier or just ... better.
In the end, it always boils downto what use you make of the PC (and of the browser). If IE suits you and you're happy with it, why changing? But if you have never tried an alternative, I would look around: there's better stuff out there.

I have used IE8 when it was still in Beta. Only my McAfee did not show until after final release although it worked. Both IE7 and IE8 on 2 WinXP Computers tend to change the Page to a size way to big to see. This only after I use Google Search. Uninstalling IE8 to IE7 or just Reinstalling IE*6 bresolves the problem. Seems that Google is the culprit. No problem whatsoever with Vista Computers. A lot of friends are having a problem with crashes. Upon checking what they did it turns out they tried to RUSH the installation when the blank screen remained for a long time. Patience and it will finish.

I'd have to agree. I have a 64 bit system with Vista Home and I've never had a problem for a year now with either Vista OR my recent download of IE8. Perhaps it's the system I'm using or maybe not but I'm very happy with my setup. I'm thinking maybe IE8 with XP isn't a good match but I think it depends on your PC and the little nuances.

Just like when people were moaning and groaning when their system crashed after installing Win XP SP3, IE8 will be blamed for some mess.
First - every PC is different. Everything depends on what the user has done to the system. There is no way Microsoft can test every variable.
Second, going back to the Win XP SP3, both HP and Asus were to blame for the issues. HP because they dumped an Intel CPU based image on an AMD CPU based system. Asus was blamed for a bnug in the motherboard firmware - which Asus fixed.
