I still like free office software better. You should never pay for software when alternatives are available for free, even if they are crappy.

This article is a piece of spam. Randall Kennedy fails to mention that Softmaker Office is not free. It costs (US) $80.00. Comparing a paid program to a free program (OpenOffice.org) is not fair. Sun used to sell StarOffice for about the same price, and it was little more than OpenOffice.org with a few bells and whistles added.
Kennedy is known from Infoworld.com as a fanatical opponent of all things Open Source and free. He collaborates with Microsoft as a developer, so his views are always suspect. He also hates Linux, so why was the original of this article posted in Linux World?
Kennedy should stop bashing Open Source under the false pretense of an Expert Review of a Closed Source product n one has ever heard of, and go back to Infoworld.com, where everybody is wise to his tricks and deceptions.
