Agree with [~193738], there are various other BT web sites, offering even more capabilities (media preview for instance). This event is actually going to boost the p2p trackers market, giving the little guys a chance. Also consider that BT is not the only file shearing protocol, there is a list of other more or less decentralized networks, such as edonkey2000, Gnutella and so on. Did the end of Napster indicate the end of file sharing?! Aha ... NO! Just imagine how many alternatives came out after it! Same with Pirate Bay: more similar services will pop up in countries with less or no regulation ;)

There will always be others. The files themselves are not stored on the pirate bay, so people will just re upload them again. When TPB falls, another will just rise up and take their place. People can't control the internet. Today, information is transferred at the speed of light. It's foolish for anything to think that the internet today can be completely controlled. Technology is always changing. Even if someone completely censors the internet (impossible), another technology will arise to take its place. It's time for industries to realize that. There is no such thing as privacy anymore. They are fighting an uphill battle. Industries and the RIAA need to come to terms with the fact that in today's world, everything they fight for is impossible. Every time something has been stopped, something else rises to even greater heights. So, let's not consider the death of pirate bay as the end of an era, but instead look at it as the birth of a new, greater one.

To the people buying the pirate bay: You just made a HUGE mistake. If you think that you can still attract that many visitors, you're kidding themselves. I don't see anyone really pleased about this change. So, why don't you just cancel the deal while you've got the chance, save your money, and save us some time (and upload bandwidth)

sorry for triple-posting, but, I just found this on www.dmwmedia.com:
"Meanwhile, TorrentFreak reports that an independent BitTorrent tracker at OpenBitTorrent.com now appears to be hosting all of the torrents that were previously available on The Pirate Bay. "
anyone can confirm that???

I'm saying the same thing pretty much everyone else has. This article is complete rubbish. Isohunt, Mininova, private trackers, etc. Not to mean other ways like rapidshare and free web plug in programs like freecorder. An end of era?
Whatever.....

I've been downloading and doing peer to peer for 25 + years. Only difference when I started is that I can reach more people and it has become easier. I also don't cassette and vhs tapes anymore to do it. =) Stop record and movie companies. They will never learn.
