Chatter doesn't require IDLE for general email, just for the "push" behavior. One of my mail servers doesn't have it yet either and chatter works fine with it, you just have to click the "offline" button and specify how often you want to check the mailbox. Of course, IDLE is ~much~ better since it saves power and you get instant notification, but the mail server not supporting it obviously isn't chatter's fault.My favorite part about chatter is that updates are free and often include EXCELLENT new features. For example, the latest betas support encryption of emails on the SD card. Chatter's a fraction of the cost of other enterprise products, but it certainly has eneterprise features!
