Outrageous price for something you don't need unless you are a gamer who will need the latest or have a specific business application.I have started using Ubunto. The ZERO price cannot be beat and it works great with no internet or virus threats. I even have my ipod on it. I prefer the philosophy and the price over anything from Redding or Cupertino.Shame on greedy Microsoft.. And Mac users have been chumped every 18 months for another 100 bucks for less than 100 buck upgrades. People - wake up - Ubuntu

The BAD in all of this is the fact that most people when they buy a new system that is advertized as "Vista Compliant" they buy a system with the XP Pro OEM version which is NOT upgradeable so therefore NOT subject to the upgrade to Vista discount. So remanufacturers and resellers are decieving people making them think that they will need a new system in order to run Vista when with most people who own a P4 system with a minimum 1gb of ram and a decient graphics card can run it already. When all they really need is the operating system. People need to check with Micrsofts Vista Web site before buying a whole new system to see if what they have is enough already, upgradeable, or not.And not everyone is into open source OS's. Ubuntu has been known to have a lot of its own issues with stability and security just go to secunia.com and see for yourself.

I must say that Ubuntu is more secure than Windows without Anti-Virus. Anti-Virus for Ubuntu is like taking pain killers for a small headache. Why pay 100 bucks when you can get a quality OS for FREE? Yeah it will take sometime getting used to but, hey Windows 95 took sometime getting used to. I use Windows for gaming, Mac for my work (animation) and Ubuntu for basic web surfing/ IRC chatting. It's time for Ubuntu, isn't it? When I can not use XP for gaming anymore I will use Vista, hopefully it will take a few years.

Don't kid yourself genedefcon, we have PLENTY of friends associated with the development of Linux that we will not have to rely on Billy much longer for a platform with which to play games on.
