I'll pass on Internet Explorer 7, thank you, until my company makes me install it. Installation of the beta version made a friend's computer unusable, and in general it is just too invasive to install on a whim. I don't see anything compelling in the new features as compared to Firefox.

That's the risk with betas though, something can always go wrong. I've had each version since it was released, without any problems, and was fairly impressed. Now last night I installed the final version on my kids PC's (in place of the RC version, cant put it on mine since I'm running Vista RC2) and came away amazed. My daughters PC is the more modern of their machines (athlon xp 1700+, 256 DDR) and pages were loading on IE7 twice as fast as they were on Firefox 1.5. I then repeated the test on my sons pc (733 PIII xeon workstation) and IE7 showed itself considerably faster there too.

You can see tab thumbnails in FireFox -- all you need is the Tab Preview extension. Put your mouse over a tab, and a little nice preview instantly pops up. As usual, FireFox is way ahead of IE -- big surprise!

A tab mouseover preview is certainly available with an easily installed extension named Tab Preview (if v.03 hasn't already been updated to the latest FF version, it no doubt will be in a few days). That's the beauty of Firefox, fixes and improvement happen FAST, and the huge selection of extension make it customizable to your hearts content!

I recently tried IE7 and it lasted on my computer about 1 hour. I was unable to view my favorite news sites because it is not compatible with Adobe Flash Player and the sites don't work with Windows media player. Back to Firefox and IE6 until some of the bugs are worked out

i hate ie, i use firefox and the extension "ietab" if i need it, ie is slow and ineffieciant, one of the biggest advanteges that firefox has is the abilty to mange and delete extensions and themes. plus the one other thing is you dont have to worry about windows genuniune advantage with firefox

Five years since the last release and this is the best Microsoft could do? Don't get me wrong, IE7 seems like a definite improvement over its predecessor. It's faster and has more features, but it's still lacking many of the functions we've come to take for granted in Firefox. Also, something that's not mentioned in the review, many of the IE7 add-ons are expensive, $30 for an ad blocker, etc. Who needs that? You'll probably want to download IE7 for those times when you have to use Internet Explorer, but for everyday use, I'll stick with Firefox.

Menu bar missing! The default install of IE 7 came up missing the menu bar. Had to right-click to make it reappear. One wonders if MS is trying to force users to change their computing styles. Note the missing File and Edit menus in Office 2007 Beta for Windows.

Switch to Ubuntu Linux! Then you can have Firefox AND dump leaky Windows at the same time....

I upgraded to ie7, however I do not find it as user friendly or appealling in appearance as firefox. I will stick with firefox and only have ie7 on my computer for those times that it is required for updates, etc.

I've been a Microsoft supporter, but after using both IE7 and Firefox 2 I find that Firefox is quicker for me. I have enough lag on the internet, Firefox loads faster for me, then I'll stay with it as my primary browser. I'm into speed.GS

What a wonderful product. IE sucks, And if dimwits can't design their sites to be compatible with FireFox, I try not to waste my time.It makes me happy that people will trouble themselves downloading the newest MS B.S., as my feeling of superiority is quite gratifying. I'm roscopico, and I approve this message.

I use Firefox browser, my friends use Internet Explorer (old habits die hard!).When I download some documents from the web I save them in MS Works Word processor (unfortunately I don't have a choice).Occasionally I forward some of these saved documents as attachments. The recipient IS UNABLE to open them with IE.What is the problem and what is the solution?I would appreciate any help to be sent to: marozsanjanos@hotmaILcomThank you in advance,J.M.

I and my clients have all moved to either Opera, or firefox. No internet explorer is allowed on any machine, if a critical update comes through, that must be installed then I download the network version of the update, and install that update on each and every computer, in my client base.Since Microsoft, will not allow any browser but Internet Explorer to recieve updates, this is what I have to do.I will be just happy when Microsoft Discontinues support for XP, then I can move everyone to Linux, and I won't have to go through all these shenanigans just to get around Microsoft, and their egos.
