Why is it that one can only change the region for a DVD built into the computer for a given number of times only? JG

Most likely due to pressure/restrictions from the movie industry. They have their "market" protection "racket" of different regions codes and those region codes kind of lose their effectiveness if you can change your drive's region code at will.
