HiI have an acer Aspire 5002WLMi, and I've been having some trouble with Windows Update recently. I have had this laptop for about a year now, and it has been working fine. It still works fine, except that Windows Update recently started not working. Instead of displaying the updates, this is what I get: Files required to use Windows Update are no longer registered or installed on your computer. To continue: ( ) Register or reinstall the files for me now (Recommended) or ( ) Let me read about more steps that might be required to solve the problem. [Continue].Even though if I select the register or reinstall button, and retry to get to my updates, this screen keeps showing up again and again. What can I do to fix this problem?Thank you in advance

The problem can sometimes be fixed by re-registering the MSXML3.DLL files as follows :Click Start then Run and type {size:18px}regsvr32 MSXML3.DLL[/size] and press OK.If that does not work, then try these files :REGSVR32 MSXML.DLL REGSVR32 MSXML2.DLL

Thank you for your help, Wainui. It worked beautifully. As it turned out, there was a problem with Windows Defender. I have used beta 2, and just upgraded to the final version, which apparently didn't go along well with my computer. Now I'm back to using the beta 2. Thank you again!
