Hi skyDX,
You didn't mention the brand of your keyboard but I have had similar problems with two of Microsoft's Comfort Curve 2000 keyboards and had to stop buying them. I don't know of a way to fix a key that isn't functioning so I just replaced them with another brand (although I figured out a way to reseat a scissors type key --- absolutely no help to you

Hi. I agree. Could be a problem with the contacts and a new keyboard is probably in order. If you had access to another keyboard to check, it would certainly be helpful in troubleshooting.

The first thing I'd try is cleaning the keyboard. With the PC off, turn the keyboard over and lightly hit the back of it to shake out dirt. If that doesn't work, a can of compressed air can help blow away dirt below the keys.
If that doesn't work, a new keyboard may be in order.
And just be glad you have a desktop. Replacing the keyboard on a laptop is much more expensive and time-consuming.

If the keyboard works fine on one PC but not on another, I'd be inclined to suspect the PC. Or perhaps some weird thing between them. Two other tests you should try:
1) Borrow a friend's keyboard and see if that works on your PC. If it does, buy a new keyboard and your problem is solved.
2) Boot from a Linux Live CD and see how the keyboard behaves with that. If it's okay, the problem is with Windows.
