Hi, Carrie.
I've found one solution to this problem, although it's not aperfect one. The $2 Smart Lock 2.0 allows you to create a kid-friendlyenvironment that can only launch the applications you approve. Once you launchand lock this environment, the only way to load an unapproved app is to getpassed your phone's pattern lock.
The free Smart Lock Lite doesn't offer this feature.
The feature works, but be aware of these caveats.
First, The Child Lock feature takes quite a bit of work toset up. Placing the actual apps in the "Approved Launcher" is easyenough. But the first time you press the LockApproved Launcher button, you'll find yourself having to change a couple ofAndroid's security settings before you can turn off your screen, turn it backon again, and have a child-safe phone.
Second, if your child is in an app and presses the Home key,it doesn't take them to Smart Lock's Approved Launcher. Instead, it brings themto your logon page, at which point they can do nothing but bring the phone toyou so you can unlock it for them, after which you'll have to lock the ApprovedLauncher and turn your screen off and on again. If the child presses the Backbutton enough times, he or she will get to the launcher.
