Processor Wars Heat Up as AMD, Intel Add Cores
Having just bought 3 dual core PC's for my family this past 3 months, it will be years before I go for a quad core. What I want to see are more products like the Sony TV anywhere server. The products that are out now are very good. The Logitech 9000 cam, Gateway 24" monitor, Logitech Z5500 speakers, Maxtor 750g external,AMD 6000x2,LF-V30,core 2 duo, products such as these are top line. Right now for most of us we are in the sweet spot for computing. We will always want faster Broadband, and better software. The hardware out there now is very good.

Big deal, more cores. I want to see higher core speeds.

AMD has been putting out some nice chips, but they are too slow at doing so. In the long run this will hurt them. They have too much talk and not enough action.

My thoughts exactly. Also, I'll always be using AMD over Intel, until they do a really bad screw up. Sure, Intel is faster, but they're also more expensive. When I have the choice between a fast dual core for ~$230, and a slightly slower one for ~$150, I'll get the cheaper one every time: aka AMD.

Processor War Heats Up? Oh, when I saw this, I thought it was another President Bush thing. This "war" is even more pitiful than the situation in Iraq, but it's anything but "hot". I've had great admiration for AMD's processor innovations in the past, and am really saddened by the current state of their development. I think their talent and resources are being concentrated on chipsets and graphics rather than on processors.
