AMD Ships New Triple-Core Phenom
Waste of time, when I price out a server there is virtually no difference in price between a dual core Xeon and a Quad core Xeon running at the same speeds
OK I am an AMD fan but this is a dumb idea

"AMD designed the triple-core as a way to produce a cheaper chip. The triple-core processor is built on a quad-core CPU, with one core nonfunctional, McCarron said."

it's like buying a Celeron, dumb
I wish AMD would come back on top!

Re: AMD Ships New Triple-Core Phenom
I don't believe it's a waste of time, it does add more flavors to the line up, but! I do believe that AMD needs to speed things up and start putting out some POWER CHIPS, like back in the day of the 754-939 socket with the FX Chips which got them on top briefly. Not just power chips for servers either, but desktop chips also. Right now it just seems they are just satisfied with being the cheeper alternitive to Intel. They are saying good things but not acting on them very fast and taking along time progressing.
