Hi PCMano and welcome to the PCWorld Communities. :D

First, I have changed your Discussion title to give a clearer indication of your question. For future reference, please be as descriptive as possible in both the heading of your Discussion as well as the post itself. Also, since your question is in relation to a hard drive, I have moved this Discussion from the Desktop Community into the Components Community.

Now, since you already have the USD price, why not use an online currency conversion site like this:

http://www.xe.com/ucc/

You can get results in three steps:

  1. Enter the amount
  2. Select USD as the From this currency rate
  3. Select INR as the To this currency rate

If a converted price won't work (which I agree is not likely a good indicator), then your best solution is to try to get a price from an Indian seller/store.

I agree a converted price alone is probably not accurate. It will not account for importation fees/costs nor potentially currency exchange rate issues. And it will not account for differences in "market forces". Point is the US prices usually DO NOT directly translate to non-US prices just with currency conversions (whether the conversion accounts for exchange rates or not).

....oopss

Maybe I should have read the entire post. My mistake.

To supplement what SMax stated, if there is no seller in your local or intermediate area and you are looking for a true conversion rate, try a bank. I know you do not want to rely on a conversion rate but there is really not many options.
