Re: Looking for Opinions on Service Pack 3 for Windows XP
Hey Number!!

Yeah , I was kinda disappointed when I read the article.

If you click on the "got bit" link from Jesper Johansson

It will bring you to his blog where you will see that he did find

a few "fixes"

He says that these should work , which ever one you chose to use.

So, maybe still hope for installation.

LILX found a way to install with some registry tweaks

but, he did not elaborate on which or how to tweak.

I will ask him in his thread.

Re: Looking for Opinions on Service Pack 3 for Windows XP
Hi MPH. I'm using the free version of Zone Alarm (v7.0.470.000). As I mentioned in my earlier post, the only glitch I experienced was the hang at the Desktop after reboot. I don't know what caused the hang, so can't say if it was a ZA conflict or not. After powering down the system, then restarting, there were absolutely no issues. The computer has been working flawlessly throughout the day with no signs of any confict with any other programs.

Re: Looking for Opinions on Service Pack 3 for Windows XP
Hi MCBarker. I have confirmed that Zone Alarm Pro and Service Pack 3 do not work well together. When I have my computer booted within Windows XP SP3, everything works perfectly. The only issue I have is the second that I enable Zone Alarm. Once enabled, the computer freezes and I have to restart.

I am going to do some research and see if there is a way around this issue. Zone Alarm has been good to me for a long time so I would prefer not to have to switch.

Re: Looking for Opinions on Service Pack 3 for Windows XP
That's a very good point. My older desktop with XP has a corporate application on it from years back so I could get on the AS/400 from home while recuperating from a surgery. I was going to update the clone before updating anyway, and I will have to wait until Tuesday night to use a friends HS broadband connection to download it. I am on satellite and although they have it fixed now and I am up to full speed (750kbps) I am limited to 200MB per day of downloads. Hey, it beats dial-up.
