Reply to Kellie and Aesznerch re Dreamweaver and FrontPage
Kellie I don't know if I have answered you yet, I don't see a reply in this thread, but I appreciate your advice and it matches advice given unhesitatingly by techs at my hosting company.
Aesznerch, Peachpit Press advice sounds good.
You mention two Adobe web design programs as your favourites. Which do you prefer?
Let me ask you this: why on Earth would Adobe want Dreamweaver if it already produces a similar product?
One answer I can think of would be to kill off Dreamweaver. That's what Autodesk did to Generic CADD after I'd spent years learning Generic. That made me an enemy of Autodesk for life. I turned to TurboCAD by IMSI and am enchanted by it, despite its quirky code and bizarrely worded explanations, which have a decidedly Russian accent. The program was begun in South Africa, moved to Northern California and the code-writing farmed out to Russian scientists in St. Petersburg. Some of the Russians were nuclear-weapons designers who were laid off when Russia downsized its military forces.
