High speed internet in the country-what are the options?

I hope this is where I'm supposed to put this topic. But, what are the options for high-speed internet when you don't have the option of cable or DSL? I know Satelite but I think that's pretty expensive. Could someone give me all the possible options?

Thanks!

I think you are basically limited to satellite and maybe wireless broadband (i.e. cellular mobile data) if available (which is less likely in really rural areas...at least 3G networks will not be that available...maybe 2.5 G or 2 G networks might be available in some kind of rural areas).

Options beside cable or DSL are a bit limited. Satelite isn't as complete as most think, a regular setup is with a 56k modem uplink but a satelite downlink. A full duplex satelite (both uplink and downlink) is very expensive. The best alternative if you have a cellular phone where you live is to purchase an AIRCARD, a card that plugs into your unit and users the cell phone access to hookup broadband. They usually run around $75 a month but are restrictive depending on how much airtime you use.

Re: High speed internet in the country-what are the options?

There's parts of the country that don't have DSL or cable hookup?! o.0

Satellite is the only other option I can think of, but I had it with verizon and it was absolutely horrible(that was in areas I could find with a good signal.) Personally, I couldn't live without a high speed internet and would probably move to an area offering it before I'd go to satellite or 56k.
