Sound Card Works Only Sometimes
Happy 4th to you all, hope you're fishing instead of reading this. I have posted this same question here before concerning this sound card. It seems to work everyonce in a while. Yesterday, it started working again out of the blue, today, NADA. The card is a NVIDIAnForceMCP Audio, built into the motherboard (not an expansion card), I have been to Device Manager and it says its working properly, no Hardware conflicts showing. In fact I looked at every single string in the tree in device manager and see no conflicts. I went into control panel, and it will not play system sounds through the speakers (it did yesterday). When I went through Control Panel and clicked on Sound/Audio the first tab was volume and it said no audio device detected, then I went to Audio, same story. All volume controls are set to the max. I did nothing and 2 days ago sound through the speakers worked fine, albeit very faint. But when I went to the above mentioned places it indicated the NVI was present as the audio device, and it was working properly, as were all else. Yesterday it recognized the sound card today nothing. I'm really at a loss any good advice? I have a slot available, if I put in a new sound card, can I disable the current one? Running an hp pavilion 541c, XP HOME SP3,AMD Athlon XP 2000+, 1.66ghz, 480 RAM. Yesterday I installed SP3, but this problem has persistedway before then and I am positive it has nothing to do with the upgrade.
HEPP ME PLEASE!
Regards, Thanks
