Spyware Article
The article "Antispyware Software - Five antispyware programs focus on tackling the latest threats" by Narasu Rebbapragada appears to be very misleading to me. Why are the top three rated anti-spyware programs paid versions while Lavasoft's Adaware version is the free version?
As stated in the article: "While a solid on-demand scanner, this product lacks real-time protection, so it shouldn't be your sole antispyware application." So why was the paid version not tested? For PCW to knowingly avoid comparing commercial versions, something smells a bit fishy to me.
I have been using Lavasoft for several years and I am very pleased with it. Adaware Plus on my computer has blocked spyware that other programs allowed, and Adaware Plus removed spyware that some other programs did not even detect.
I feel the article is misleading and more than a little insulting to the reader. I have lost all confidence in PCW to present honest comparisons of products, and where there is no confidence, there is also no reason to read PCW again. If PCW chose to re-evaluate all the programs, including all free and commercial versions, and compare them to known real-world spyware, perhaps then the article might be worth reviewing. As it currently stands, PCW has earned a 'no-confidence' status among those like myself who are serious about computer security.
