Cannot Open .dat Email Attachments

I can not open pictures in my Windows Live that end with .dat or pps. I keep getting error about no associating folders. I have windows XP.

Hi Gale. First, I have changed your Discussion title to give a clearer indication of your question. As mentioned previously, please be as descriptive as possible in both the heading of your Discussion as well as the post itself.

Now, Six months ago, you asked the exact same question regarding .pps files. Your question was answered and you stated that the suggestion worked for you. Please review your past Discussion Cannot Open .pps Files.

Regarding the .dat files, the same basic principle applies. All you have to do is select an application in which you want to open .dat files. The only problem is that .dat files are not very popular. at least in the main stream computer world. (At least as far as I know...)

I would first try to use an application called VLC Player to try and play the .dat files. You can download a free copy of VLC Player by clicking the following link:
