Changing ISP - How Do I Transfer Important Existing Emails to New ISP ??

Hi there, Hopefully someone can answer this for me....I'm about to start up with a new ISP and need to keep a number of important emails (both send and received) and am unsure as to how to go about this. I believe that I will no longer be able to access my current email account once I have cancelled my Internet Plan with that ISP. Is there any easy way to do this ?? I thought I may have to just copy and paste them all individually to Word or something like that, but am hoping there is any easier way. Any helpful information would be greatly appreciated as I have already organised the changeover for tomorrow night.

Many thanks in advance to those who can assist with this question.

I would try forwarding them all to a pop account like gmail, yahoomail etc. Check out the email pages I know with my gmail I can tell it to forward all my mail to somewhere else or all my mail from now on etc. If not you could manually forward them to another account.

Hi EnlightenMe. To add to what Aurora suggested, I believe some ISPs can do this process for you. This may be ISP specific so check with your new ISP for full details if that is available through them.

Enlightenme - you did not tell us what type of e-mail you have been using with your current provider.

If - you have been use POP3, which downloads the e-mails onto your machine via Outlook Express (or something similar), then you should not have to do anything. The email history, both sent and received are residing on your machine, and you should not have to do anything.

If - you have been using Webmail, where the saved e-mails reside on the web site of your ISP, then you should go in and change the settings of Outlook Experess/Windows Mail to bring down the e-mails onto your machine.

I use both. I have webmail accounts set up so that I can access the e-mail from any internet connected PC, and then periodically I bring down and archive the e-mails I want to keep onto my PC in Outlook Express.
