Hey Everyone!!
I was looking around to see if I could find updates to the drivers for my new
notebook ,when, I came across the nVidia web site. On their site, nVidia has
a new tool which can detect which board you are using and if you need to
up-date to a new driver.Somewhat akin to Crucial for the RAM.
There is a new driver out for the 8xxx/9xxx version. The driver version is 175.16 .
But, to be certain that you really need a new driver go to:
nVidia Driver Download and use this new tool
Since I now have a nVidia 8400 GS I used this tool to see if the up-date was necessary for my notebook.
They scanned my card and came back with the exact model. They also reported that since my
notebook was an HP , I needed to go directly to HP for any and all of my driver up-date needs.
They further explained that builders of Desktops and Notebooks who use the nVidia graphics boards
customize those boards to meet their needs. Hence the need to visit the site of the builders.
This tool in automatic mode is still in Beta (they call it Pre-Release) but, worked flawlessly when I tried it.
You will need to choose, for the tool to do it's work automatically:
Option 2: Automatically find drivers for my NVIDIA products.
If , you would rather find the new driver manually then, just choose between
the corresponding drop down menus and click : Search.
FLASHORN.
Patience is life.
