ARE MY AVAST! AV SETTINGS TOO HIGH ?

Hi All, I have noticed some problems with loading from my optical drive. I had set Avast! AV to maximum sensitivity. I have set it back to Standard, but haven't tried to load any thing as yet. I guess my question is, it it possible for this to interfer with the disk loading ? coastie

eMachines T5212.... Intel Pentium D 945 3.4Ghz..... evga 8600 GT 256 Mb PCI-E video card..... Realtec HD audio......2 Gb 533 Mhz DDR2 memory..... Lite on CD RW; DVD +R / RW DL optical drive...... Windows XP MCE 2005....... Antec Basiq 500w PSU......200 Gb PATA HDD

Are you speaking about the "Normal, High, & Custom" Settings of the 7

"Providers/Shields" ? Based on my brief "Search" on the Avast Support Forums, I

recommend you "Register" there, then Post your Request for Help in the forum at

http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=2.0 . "DavidR" seems the most knowledgeable

in this area, but Others may reply as well .

Also depends on the contents of the disk. Avast is known to perform poorly when scanning video files . It may be the reason , you will have to do a bit of work to check this out.

I set it back to "Normal" sensitivity. I got my printer working, don't know if it is configured exactly right though, but it works and seems to have all the utilities. I'm going to look into it though and see what's what. coastie
