Flickery playback with VLC 0.8.6i

Hi guys, wonder if any of you can perhaps be of assistance,

PC as follows: ASUS Maximus Formula mobo, WD VelociRaptor 300 gig HDD, ASUS 9800 GTX graphics (latest drivers, ver 6.14.11.7779), 2 gig ram, XP SP3, Dell E207 WFP 20 inch LCD.

Display flickers at times while paying DVD, movies with VLC, but clear when using Windows Media Player 11 and Power DVD 8. Even formatted and reloaded OS and apps to HDD, still same.

Took PC back to shop, techies tell me hardware is perfect. Got any suggestion?

Hey Kramerric!!

Welcome to PCWorld Community!

VLC in my experience has been know to falter. Do you have all the necessary codecs

to play that video. Check the file ext. of that vid. If VLC doesn't have the right codec then you can

download the K-lite codec pack . You will find this pack

to be complete.

If you are not satisfied with VLC, I would suggest you try :

MediaPlayerClassic . Read about both of these

by clicking on the blue links.
