Trend Micro online scanner - won't scan?

The past six months I have not been able to successfully us TM's online scanner http://housecall65.trendmicro.com/

I've
tried v 6.6 as well, and for both 6.5 abd 6.6 tried using the browser
based kernel and the java one (ie four configs total!)

None of the four will work - it either goes dead/idle for hours OR closes IE (v6) after 10 mins or so/just disappears.

Has anyone had problems and solutions? Thanks

Re: Trend Micro online scanner - won't scan?

Hi JBob and welcome to PCWorld Communities.

I have TrendMicro AntiVirus, but I have never used their Housecall online scanner.

Are you sure you have the right link for their free scanner? I got this link for you http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ It actually looks like a cool thing.

I don't know of too many people on this Forum who use TM. Usually when I have any kind of problems, I just contact them directly. I wish I could be of more help to you.

:D Hi :

The Use of Online Security "Scanners" are usually done when someone is having a

malware/"virus" problem or suspects they MAY be having One !? Do you fall into either

of these 2 "Catagories" !? Adama's Link appears to be the One that should be used .

I suspect some problem with java installed on your system or not properly integrated with the browser. You can check by seeing if other java applications run fine in the browser.

btw - there are more better online scans available than trend.
eset nod32 - http://www.eset.eu/online-scanner
bitdefender - http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html
mcafee - http://us.mcafee.com/root/mfs/default.asp

All above are based on activex and will need IE.

Hi :

I recommend you "test" your Java by going to http://www.javatester.org/version.html and

tell us EXACTLY WHAT it says in the pinkish rectangle, which is under

"Method 1: Ask Java" !?
