Thanks for the good answer.
I still don't know if I'm going to download CCleaner or not, because I don't really like to download a bunch of stuff to my computer, especially if it's not necessary to my day to day computing.

Hi MPH,
One of the members at that Forum gave me the suggestion to go into Internet Options, then to General tab. Clicked on Settings button, and then on View Files. This took me to the Temporary Internet Files folder.
I did fine there until I had to do the next steps.
He said that I should be able to find the * .txt files. They start with the name "cookie" And then I was supposed to click on the cookie for the Forum in question, but I had none of that.
I did find the "cookie: my name @ whatever it said.com" but when I clicked on it, it took me to a notepad document with strange letters in it, which I decided not to disturb and closed it.
I think maybe he was referring to XP instead of Vista.

Well, I'm still having the same problems with the Forum in question.
That was one of the reasons I downloaded CCleaner, to clean the old stuff out of my computer, and to be able to say which cookies to Keep. But dang it, that didn't help me fix problem with the Forum.
It did clear out over 30 MBs of stuff, which is good, but I ended up having to uninstall CCleaner because I had mega problems with it.

I'm so glad that you dropped by. You're right, I have tried almost everything under the heavens!!
When I got the email notif with your comment, I printed it to follow it better and I did the following:
Went to Tools >Internet Options >Privacy.
Then I clicked on Advanced. I changed the 3rd Party Cookies to Allow.
I clicked on Sites, to make sure that the Forum in question is still listed there, and it is, it is set to Always Allow the cookies for that site.
How long do you think I should leave the 3rd Party Cookies on Allow? Just a few days to see if the problem with the Forum changes?

I went ahead and reset the 3rd Party Cookies to Blocked again.
The problem is that = The cookies for that particular Forum can't be found anywhere! I haven't been to that Forum in a couple of days, I'll have to go back and check things out again.
And yes, I've been deleting all my Search History every night when I log off, but I didn't do it last night, since CCleaner messed things up so badly for me. I guess I could do it once a week, see if the Edit option is available up to a week.

I guess I'm going to try and not delete the cookies, nor the Search History for a few days. Then I'll be able to see if that makes a difference and if that allows me to have the Edit option in that other forum.
I really don't feel comfortable doing that. So once I start deleting the Cookies again, maybe I'll have to go through all this rigamorough again!!!

I tried not deleting the Search History for the past 4 days, and I was able to Edit my posts in that other Forum.
However, the first posts to my threads remain un-editable. Turns out that about 2 years ago they had some mega problems with a lot of spamming, and that's why they set their Forum software the way it is right now. So, I've finally come to terms with not being able to Edit my older posts.
One of the guys there gave me a link to TweakVista.com and in there they provide solutions to delete some of the Search History while leaving others intact.
He also provided a code to enter that I can use to clear Temporary Internet Files, History, Form data and Passwords, while leaving Cookies unaffected =
RunDll32.exe InetCpl.cpl, ClearMyTracksByProcess 57

I cringe when I see Dll. exe stuff, because I don't know what it is and how it can affect my computer.
Anyway, I wanted to thank you for your assistance and all the effort you put in to help me solve this mystery.

That is what i told you earlier , the problem is on their side. But now that you have tried it for 4 days and seen it yourself that would have made it crystal clear. Also i guess you have learned a lot new things about cookies in past few days.
Two things -
First, since the problem is on their side and not yours , it would be better to keep cleaning all browsing history rather than leaving the cookies alone. This will depend on your personal preference . Consider ther fact that how many times do you need to edit very old posts. Rarely in my opinion. It could be different for all. Then decide whether you want cookies or editable posts.
Second , the rundll command that you have posted seems a bit odd to me. The command is fine but the ending is not familiar to me. MAybe i am not aware of this but it doesn't come under standard commands. I personally use a slightly different command for cleaning out all IE history and i have it as a batch file so that i dont have to type it all the time.
Again two ways of doing this - one is by going to tools -> internet options and delete browsing history . Then clean all except cookies there. That would be a bit long. Second is to create a batch file which will do the same but with a single click.
