:^0 Yep, I sure did. Uncle Bill is history, or least should be. He didn't set a very good moral example for the kids. :D

Re: CCleaner - Have you had any problems between it and Vista?

Hey Adama!!

It's not the downloading in itself that caused the temporary problems.

it was Running the app.. You probably deleted some temporary files that were needed

to run certain processes. Had you rebooted your notebook last night , things would have come

back just like they did this morning when you restarted the notebook. It was like a reboot only

longer. And no, it's not because it sat all night in the off position. It was a simple reboot. Some of the

places you were trying to reach may have also been unavailable. It happened to me last night where

I could not reach certain addresses.

CCleaner will in fact run well in XP or Vista and it doesn't matter what other program

you have on your notebook. It does not interact with any programs other then when it is

doing some Cleaning. Like I said , if you want to clean some files, Copy and Paste them

in a discussion and either MPH or rgreen or coastie or techie or Piyush or Spirit will tell

you which ones are safe to remove,

Ok, sweetie, I hope my attempt at an explanation worked for you. If not , then ask away.

Off Topic. My phone has been ringing off the hook. My Mom says , I hope I'm not disturbing you!

I don't know how it plays with Vi$ta as I am running XP MCE. :D To hear some people, Vi$ta doesn't play well with itself let alone anything else, although there are a lot of people that are happy with it and having no problems. I think, as others do, that you had a minor hiccup.

Re: CCleaner - Have you had any problems between it and Vista?
I was going to get a Laptop for my Mom, but I can't even get her to pull up her own e-mail on this thing. I sat her down and had her play solitaire to get used to the mouse and the point, click and drag thing. I think she thought the mouse would bite her or something, so I have to pull up her e-mail and print it out for her. Oh well.

Re: CCleaner - Have you had any problems between it and Vista?

Hey coastie!!

I'm being patient as Mom has only the use of her left hand.

Had to switch the the buttons on the mouse for her, and yes the

mouse is a unusual tool to them. This afternoon , she called saying

that she could not get in to her e-mail. Having only a left hand , trying

to do an Underscore is not easy. Tomorrow I will change her password

to make it easier. We don't think about those things until you have to

interact on that level. But, I must admit , that she is brave. Trying out new

tasks was never her strong suite. I sorta pushed her a little and with time

Mom will be able to do all of it on her own.

Re: CCleaner - Have you had any problems between it and Vista?

Hey Aurora!!

What a wonderful machine . never heard of this before.I guess it's like a

Fax machine but, going through a e-mail server. But, unfortunately ,

you are a week too late. Thank You for a wonderful suggestion .

I did have her buy a notebook to keep her mind active. The older you get

the more sedate you become so, by having a new toy to play with, this should

keep her thinking and reading for some time to come.

Thanks again Aurora.

Re: CCleaner - Have you had any problems between it and Vista?
Np I just remember seeing ads for these before and how convenient they were. The one's I saw hooked up to a phone line and it just dialed in occasionally I think to see if there is any mail and would just print it when it received something. I know it comes through the phone line anyway. I thought it was a pretty good idea for people who want to receive emails and such but don't want to deal with computers at all.

From what i know.....Vista Service pack 1 has prevent softwares from editing their registry as a protection to prevent from corruptting the OS. thus I would say that these reg cleaners cant do must....they may be able to scan the errors...but we do not know it they cleaned...
