Norton Antivirus 2007

I know alot of people are disgusted with Symantec by now, but I still have to ask. Has anyone tried Norton Antivirus 2007 or read any reviews about it? I have AV 2005 and I'm thinking about BitDefender, but I'm hearing mixed reviews, especially about early expiration problems. Basically, I'd rather go with what I know and upgrade to Norton AV 07, but I'd like some feedback. Thanks.

Norton Internet Securitty2007 Conflict w/ HP packet writing
I have just upgraded my laptop and PC to Norton Internet Security 2007 and have had crashes on both when I inserted a CD. It is my understand that the issue is caused by a conflict with Norton 2007 and the Sonic program, specifically the command in the Start Up Menu within Configuration. relating to the comman tfswctrl.exe. I couldn't find the tfswctrl command in my Start Up within Configuration, so Symantec suggested I uninstall my OS XP and reinstall it. Frankly, I had rather uninstall NORTON 2007. Any helpful comments will be appreciated.:?

DStMarks, it sounds like you have a grip on things, (I'm not a Geek), yet I had the same experience with Dell. One tech. suggested the same thing, reinstall my OS,XP. Not wanting to do that, I called back again, got a different tech; all said, it was a bad monitor (Dell replaced it, N/C, warrenty was still active). I've used N.I.S. 2006, and tried 2007. My thought on both is that there pretty intrusive on my system. I don't have anything against Symantec, as I use their firewall and SystemWorks with good results. If you want to uninstall it, use their tool http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4749, and try giving someone else a test drive. I use BitDefender10+ with Nortons 2006 Firewall for its add and pop up blocker ( BitDefenders doesn't). I don't use their suite as I don't need Parental Control (The firewall in the suite is better than 10+ http://bitdforum.com/index.php?showtopic=408).

We just got this at work and what I notice is that I get pop-ups, more so than the 2006 version.

I have Norton 2006 Internet Security at home and I want to just switch to the anti-virus program, but not if I have to look forward to pop-ups.

Porkchop, did you mean that you just got the N.I.S 2007? If so, you can get the "add on" http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/custserv.nsf/docid/2006092616462646 which also includes pop up blocker. Otherwise Webroot has a pop up blocker software that I think you can demo. for 30 days. (I haven't tried it yet) http://www.webroot.com/consumer/products/popupwasher/features.html

No, Sorry. To clarify, we have the Norton Anti-Virus 2007 at work, but I have NIS 2006 at home. Ever since we updated at work I get pop-ups. At home I don't get any which is lovely.

I need to renew in a couple of weeks and I'm not sure if I want to stick with NIS, or just the Anti-Virus or get something completly different.:?:

The tech people here said that if I just update windows routinely, that I don't need Internet Security, just Anti-Virus software....Is that true?

IMO I would consider a good firewall (if your not behind a firewall router). For me, Nortons Personal Firewall is a nice no muss, no fuss, option, as your familire with it.
Yet supposedly it's going to be discontinued (the Personal Firewall ), http://reviews.cnet.com/Norton_AntiVirus_2007/4505-3667_7-32069537.html?tag=pop and yet, is "included" in Antivirus 2007? (see "Features", 2nd paragraph). A security suite might have add ons you don't need, and are paying for, but it can make life simpler w/o multiple software conflict "wars".
