Extracting Video Clips

I use video clips from commerical (copyrighted) movies in my classes, or at least I try. I'm looking to make it easier for me by taking the clip(s) from my DVD(s) burning them on a single DVD so I don't have to swap discs, jump back and forth, FF and Rew, etc. I'm looking for a program that will let me do this. It doesn't have to be free but it can't be hundreds of dollars either. Does anyone have any suggestions? Doing a search of the site gave nothing.

BTW, should anyone care or worry about such things, I do have a video license which allows me the use of the clips. Thanks for your help.

PCW doesn't allow discussion of grey area topics like going roundabout with copyrights. If you have any other legit computer questions, come back anytime.

Re: Extracting Video Clips
I would use DVD Magic and Nero to burn it. Normally a copyrighted dvd isn't allowed to be discussed on the forum, however this is legal and legitimate if he has a license for the use of it in school. Making it a legitimate question in this situation.

I don't know the details of this, but if anyone knows that this is illegal then just let me know.

Re: Extracting Video Clips

it's sortof default to suspicion because there have been other posts by others attempting to rip dvds for gains other than personal /non-distribution

If you have a license, then you are set (should have said something about that in your first post). Sorry for any crossed beams about your intentions.

Carlmi - I am sorry you took Aurora's comment wrong. She did give you an answer and then stated 'normally' before she stated the policy. This is anything but a "flame" forum, in fact that is one of the objectives of the moderators, to control the discourse to facts, ideas and opinions about the topic at hand, not personal attacks or put downs of any kind.

Re: Extracting Video Clips
You've said you have the license, and all we can do is believe you. I'm sorry that your post came under lots of suspicion and was met with questions, but we just run into this kind of thing a lot around here. Most people don't have the license and so it was sort of easy to overlook even though you did clearly post that you had the permission.

Aurora gave you a few suggestions, and I'd encourage anyone else with other ideas to chime in.
